im sure there is 1.5 million copies sitting on store shelfs one year after release. makes sense. 

But the assumption is that Sony is talking about sold to customers when they say 6 million "sold".

Whether that 6M number is shipped or not the game is still full priced (At least here in the US). I am sure we could easily assume it is still selling very well.
