Lmao, no. An athlete is someone who is shown to have physical athletic prowess. You're pushing the limits of your body, not your mind. Call it something else. Pro Gamers deserve respect, but the aren't athletes. It's not about how challenging it is or how much practice you need.

Thread should have ended here.

If professional Poker is a sport then Shouldn't eSports be considered a sport?

You do know that poker is refered as sport because gambling is such a bad word to use. It is illegal for you to play at home, isn't it?

After huge debates, they decided to call it that. But no , poker isn't a sport.

......I apologize before hand but who decided what wasn't a sport and what is. You might not consider it one but others do.

So would you be happy if pro gamers are labeled as a "Sportsman" like someone mentioned earlier in the thread? If so I can agree with that, I think it's a much more fitting title.

That seems a much more accurate term, yes.

Suppose you play a video game of chess. Are you an athlete because you're playing a video game, or not because it's chess, albeit in electronic form?

Suppose you're playing a Wii game with motion controls. Does the physical activity make you an athlete?

Suppose you're playing a sports video game like baseball, does that make you a double athlete for playing both the electronic version of a sport and a video game at once?

Suppose you're playing the Wii version of a baseball video game using motion controls. Where do we draw the magical line that says what game is athletic and what isn't?

At what point does this whole business of titles break down into arbitrary nonsense that someone just makes up?

"Sportsmen" Would be a better term to use
