Forums - Nintendo - Will the Wii U NFC game be a Nintendo mascot action/adventure game?

It has been stated that the new Smash Bros will not feature the subspace emissary story mode and Nintendo also has an upcoming NFC game that will be revealed at E3, could these two things be related? A Skylanders/Disney Infinity style game featuring Nintendo mascots could be a big hit among Nintendo fans and children.

Start out with three toys included with the game, probably Mario, Link, and Donkey Kong with other various triple packs. Villian pack featuring Bowser, Ganondorf, Lord Fredrik. I could see this being the big holiday title this year.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Although it would make sense considering there are already statues/trophies of the characters in the games, I would absolutely hate this. If Sakurai wants to replace Subspace Emissary with something, replace with something good.

Seriously though, did you actually enjoy the Subspace Emissary?

Yes. And compared to this NFC thing, definitely yes.

The good part about SE were the cutscenes. They were well done.

Seconded! I enjoyed it a lot more than advanture mode only cause of the cutscenes and some of them were so damn epic!

common the NFC game will be pokemon. It has to be its liek their biggest range of toys they could possibly make. Milk the kids of their money.

as much as it was cool, its not needed to waste time+space. If they add an entire thing the game will take alot, i mean alot longer to make.

Also If they dont add in all those things (including cutscenes/etc) We can see more characters/stages which thats what the games about.

Off topic sort of but I want a Paper Mario (like the first two ones!) x Smash Bros crossover. The art style doesn't have to be paper, but the game play will be similar. You have the main character which can be your Mii who visits seven worlds with eight towns and dungeons like thousand year door. Each town can  can be a world dedicated to a popular Nintendo franchise. The dungeon or castle in that world is also from that same franchise.

I'm thinking of worlds like:
1. Hyrule and Ganon's tower. Link as ally.
2. Pokemon and Rocket's Hideout. Pokemon trainer as ally. (Each of his moves can be dedicated to a Pokemon he calls out. I'm thinking the Kanto starters and Pichu. When the trainer gains level like partners do in Paper Mario, the Pokemon evolve!
3. Animal Crossing and Tom Nook's Mall taken over by aliens - Tom Nook as ally
4. Wuhu village (Wii Fit's island) and its explosive Volcano run by a new Nintendo villain character? Wii Fit Trainer as ally
5. Donkey Kong's Island. Never played a SNES DK game so I don't know a main dungeon/evil base those game have. Run by K. Rool (?) - DK as ally
6. Dreamland and King Dedede's Castle run by Marx manipulating Dedede - Kirby as ally
7. Somewhere in Metroid (every planet or facility seems to blow up in the game) and Space Pirate Base - Samus as ally

Starting place is obviously Mushroom Kingdom with Mario as ally. Bowser Castle as the dungeon run by Bowser and a new enemy introduced to this game. And like Thousand Year Door, you don't visit the starting place's dungeon until the end of the game.

And the franchise I chosen are the best selling franchises in Nintendo that have a unique world to them (even Wii Fit/Sports have their island). I also ignored all the Mario Sports and Karts. It's pretty interesting to see what Nintendo franchise are multi-million series when you take away Mario platformer series, Pokemon, Zelda, Mario Sports/Kart/Party, and Super Smash Bros.

Ah, ok.  Personally I didn't like it.  I played through it once and never touched it again.  The Smash controls clashed terribly with a side scrolling game like that and there was nothing clever about the gameplay IMO.  Simply put, it felt like something just thrown in at the last minute.

The cutscenes looked nice, but everything was just so out of place.  I mean, Ganondorf looking out from a spaceship?  And the enemies in the game were rarely even from the Nintendo universe (marionettes and colored stick-men?  WTF?).  Considering the potential with so many Nintendo franchises to borrow from it was such a wasted opportunity.

This NFC stuff wouldn't appeal to me either but at least there could be potential there for some people - and possibly something that Ninty could profit from in the long run.

Replacing a story mode in a mascot fighter for a NFC game that is just aping one of the few successful 3rd party games on your consoles?

I pray Nintendo is never THAT desperate to do something like that. It can work for Pokemon because that is what that franchise is all about but doing it with Smash Bros or just a bunch of Nintendo mascots... disgusting.
