One of those things I really don't get. How do you mine something digital and then exchange it for good or services? I cannot imagine accepting Bitcoins from an account.

Unless you have an ASIC, you should mine another altcoin. The strongest ASIC I know of for bitcoin can mine 2 TERAhash/second. To put that into perspective, my litecoin mining pool mines at 7000 megahash/second. An entire pool. Bitcoin just isn't worth getting into at this point.
I though Bitcoins practically died after Mt. Gox?
