Forums - Nintendo - Mario Kart 8 looks fantastic! Now market the f#¢k out of it!

I don't think it will make people think twice about the WiiU's power :P It looks good because of Nintendo artistic skill, graphically speaking it's pretty simplistic (the visuals themselves could be achieved on a PS3/360, though it's performance obviously wouldn't be as good as on the WiiU).

I do think Nintendo should invest in some better AA methods. Their art style would benefit a lot from smoother edges. Their current method worked okay-ish for SM3DW, but it's flaws become a lot more apparent with faster paced games like MK8.

No one is second guessing how powerfull the wii u is. everyone always knew it was very powerfull.

It's not very powerful, it's moderately powerful. Not even the PS4/X1 could be considered "very powerful".

I walked past the window of a GameStop that only had advertisements for Mario Kart 8 and the Wii U...
I was shocked...

Have a nice day...

Looks great but will sadly sell poorly - by that I mean Double Dash standards.

Won't boost HW as much as Titanfall or Infamous have and will be the true begining of the end of the Wii U.

It does look stunning, i was nearly tempted to get a Wii U again, but friends pointed out just like the last 2 Mario games its most fun local co op, so probably just end up playing it on the office Wii U again.

But yeah Nintendo graphically have got this perfect id say.

that's like saying wii could run any ps360 game. ps360 would implode AND explode before rendering a third of mario kart 8.

to think that, you must have never played the online mode of a mario kart.

There are already apparently MK8 trailers/commercials on sites like YouTube. I have no doubt they will, in fact, market the fuck out of it. This is part of their big "One Two Punch" to get back on track, along with SB, which, by the way, is having a surprise ND video next week.

@Zekkyou

No, I'm sorry, those visuals at that level, could not be achieved on PS3/Wii U. They could not. It is okay, to give credit where it is due. Wii U hardware is not as powerful as Xbone or PS4 hardware. Duh. We all get that. But it's still OKAY to point out when Wii U hardware produces something impressive, nonetheless, instead of having every joykill on the internet drop in to say "not as good as PS4" or "that coulda been done on PS3".

That shit doesn't even need to be said. It's pointless. The POINT is, MK8 looks fantastic, compared to ANY game so far in this 8th gen, and it is in fact due to Wii U's hardware, period. It's not an arguement to be had, it's simply a statement of fact made.

I'd be fairly certain Nintendo will use the game as the fodder for a huge marketing campaign. The amount of people who bought the Wii solely for Mario Kart shows us there's a sizable group of consumers who weren't moved purely by Wii Sports and motion controlled gaming. Ninty need to hone in on that group, get some machines into homes, and hope the other unique features of the console get noticed and word-of-mouth does its thing.

Check out my news site thekonstant.com - it's chock full of good stuff, with an unhealthy bias toward gaming :)

Well the only one that i know of thats online is the 3DS one, which no i havent played, i only got my 3DS at xmas and havent picked it up yet.

Im sure i will pick a Wii U up the second Zelda drops, its certainly all it took for me to get a 3DS. And i do look forward to some Lunch time mario kart next month if we can convince the boss to pick it up. :)
