Forums - Nintendo - Mario Kart 8 looks fantastic! Now market the f#¢k out of it!

No, it wasn't. It was clearly going to be a 720p title from the beginning, just like 3D World, Tropical Freeze, etc.

Nintendo have shown that they prefer to target v-sync'd 60fps at 720p. 1080p was only ever wild, illogical speculation.

How was 1080p a wild speculation ?

Wait... You, someone who claims to be so knowledgeable about tech and shove the superiority of the PC every turn he can, believed that MK8 at 1080p wasn't just wild illogical speculation?

What does that crying Nintendo fanboy have to say about this all?

The way I see it all current consoles are capable of 1080p ...

Because Nintendo have demonstrated with their recent games that they prefer to target 60fps with v-sync at 720p.

Ok. I've heard everything I needed.

And what exactly is impressive about the graphics here? Textures? Lighting? AA?
If we want to distinguish art style from technical impressiveness, let's be clear about the technical details here.
I'm not seeing anything great here.
There seems tons of SCOPE for reflections from glowing objects, multi-level translucency/ advanced materials, that just don't show up.
No techniques that are implausible to see on PS360, not even remotely. Split screen is very easy when your textures, lighting, and objects are very limited.
I'm thrilled to be educated about any advanced techniques being implemented...
Otherwise, I don't see the point in pitiful delusion about technical advancements, just enjoy the game for what it is...

And what happened to the hype about 1080p @ 60fps ?

What hype about 1080p/60fps? I only heard that from one or two overly zealous fans.

Well I remember Nintendo saying all Wii U games showcased at E3 last year were running at 1080p/60fps.
