The secret sauce can happen. Cities with high Speeds confirmed cloud. I'm 1hr out of Chicago and have High speeds. I'm all good. Google fiber subscribers will be all good.

So where was the cloud for this? Was it far away or just in the next room making it basically SLI. If this is with the servers thousands of miles away this is pretty impressive. If the servers are in the same building not so much. Although it would still be pretty cool if you could hook your PC up to your xbone for better graphics.

Could enhanced rendering you will need some 20 years in the future... now this that MS is shoing that is Cloud compute processing (they are simulation physics) can happen at the end of this gen.
But the biggest issue with the Could is not that but the fact if something happened while you are playing a game you fps can't go 2fps just because your internet signal got weak.
Azure / Cloud is more a easy and low cost solution compared with dedicated servers.
BTW the demo can be made with dedicated servers

NeoRatt said: I saw the demo live... I'll try and address some of the things all the naysayers are waving at this... First, People should understand the context of this demo. First and foremost this was a demonstration to show how the power of the cloud can help a game work better. It was intentionally exagerated (Doing something extremely difficult on any single machine) to make the differences obvious. This was not a running game or prototype to a game, this was merely an exercise to take something stupidly, nearly impossibe on a single machine and show how it could be done using the cloud. Second, MS also said they are working with Internet infrastructure and telco companies to work on improving internet latency over time so this will not be as much an issue. I talked with an MS person after and they said that 99.5% of X1 owners have always connected broadband internet and spend an average of 5 hours per day on their console doing online gaming, streaming, etc. Third, if you play Titanfall, Forza 5, or Deadrising 3 they are all using the cloud to do stuff that cannot be done on a game console alone... In DR3, it is the processing required for the number of zombies and their uniqueness, Forza 5 is the processing of gameplay to create Drivatars, and in Titanfall it is about removing online cheating, host advantage, and processing the environment for the console to render. Fourth, you do not need Live Gold for cloud computing, this is the service that comes inside of the X1. Fifth, MS doesn't care about offline. Offline does not generate revenues... Online generates revenues through not only games, but movies, tv, apps, music, and online subscriptions. Gamers need to understand that gaming is not the only revenue stream of a console. MS is tapping into the other revenue streams to help try and ensure their console has longevity.

You are right except the Dead Rising 3 part... there is no Cloud involved... and Titanfall uses for AI and some othes calculations but nothing related to render (I guess you said that but seems a bit confuse).
The last part while I agree I read that with a bit of sadness.
And just to be clear everything these games do on Cloud can be done on dedicated servers... the Cloud is a business model that makes the use of dedicated servers more easy and cheaper.
Why was the local version running at such a shitty framerate? That demo barely looks better than what Nvidia's Apex destruction was doing over two years ago
A modern high end PC should have been able to run that demo easy... I mean this is what Nvidia were doing last year
Now it just looks like there demo is fake as shit, it's like they were unning on 1 CPU core or something hell Havok was doing this
Without GPU acceleration 4 years ago...

what subscription fees???? The pricing for band with and computational space is already available on the MSDN and is one and if not the most affordable solution considering the infrastructure you get HW/SW and certainly cheaper than any dedicated server solution the dev or publisher would need to match what's offered... The end customer wouldn't pay a penny more than it does today with XBL and server hosted multiplayer games...
while the tech for those results and the consumer internet specs is not ready... The azure platform is deployed and ready to use (already used actually outside of gaming) and pricing is already available...

Yeah Zarx I'm with you on that...I mean I understand that the destruction in the demo they used was impressive and whatnot...But they said it was running on a high end pc, and the thing dropped to 4 FPS?
Really sketchy.

This is the pourpose of the demo... they created this situation incresing all the physics calculation until it run at 2fps in a high-end PC.

First party studios will be having access to DX12 and Cloud processing before it hits the market. I love watching you guys scramble to come up with another excuse to slight MSFT and XB1.

What the hell is up with the mods on this site? Has it really become so pro-Sony here? People get away with saying whatever disparaging remarks they want about Microsoft or the XBox One, but if you dare respond to the negative remarks you get banned.
Also, why do people get away with calling the XBox One the XBone? What's wrong with XB1 if you want to abbreviate? This puerile behaviour is accepted, but if someone referred to the PS4 as the PoS4, in a similarly immature manner, the ban hammer would drop. It's pathetic.
