Have a lost/bricked 3DS? You might not have to lose your eShop downloads anymore

Apr 01, 2014 by RawmeatCowboy

Check out what Nintendo customer service told one gamer that lost his 3DS and eShop downloads with it.

Thanks for contacting us. I’m sorry to hear that your Nintendo 3DS is missing. We can help you transfer your data to a new system. Normally I would refer you to our website, however, the Nintendo 3DS data transfer issue you inquired about can only be addressed by speaking with you directly. We will need to verify some information in order to assist you, and due to that information’s sensitive nature we cannot do so through email. Therefore, once you have a new system we ask that you please give us a call.

At your earliest convenience, please contact our Consumer Service Department by calling 1-800-255-3700 any time between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Pacific Time, seven days a week. In order to speed things along, make sure to have your system with you when you call.

Sincerely,

Nintendo of America Inc.

One point to note is that this particular person had their Club Nintendo account linked, so that might play a part in the response. Still, good news if you ever have this unfortunate event happen to you.

I keep loosing mine, but I eventually find it... Now it is safe and away from the clutches of the horny Shigeru Miyamoto!

What... It never said they couldn't do it, it just says to call them cause there is sensitive information instead of emailing them...

It is a hassle how ever but they will still do it if you follow what they say... But if you never buy a new 3ds system however, then yea, it might not be the case then cause its not tied to your account

Since the Eshop now is linked to your Nintendo Network account, it doesn´t seem a big deal for them to recover your data.

If you have a broken 3ds you just have to take it to your local technical assistence and they can retrieve the data for you, and transfer for a new system, in case your system can´t be repaired properly.

Yeah if you have your club Nintendo account linked, they can restore your games.
