It's 'Waluigi time' as finally Satoru Iwata has confirmed that Waluigi will exit the shackles of being a spin-off Mario character and finally be plunged straight into his own game.

Iwata is quoted to have said: 'Waluigi deserves to embark on this threshold into his own series. And we've concluded that Waluigi deserves to be the star in our next 3D platformer 'Waluigi's World'.'

Iwata went on to say: 'This is exactly what Nintendo needs, we can't milk poor Mario any longer- he's on Nintendo life support now and that silly White Tanooki suit has drawn away our beloved Nintendo fanbase.

'It's time for a change at Nintendo and we're also announcing the cancellation of Super Mario games indefinitely and confirm that any investment into Super Mario will go into Waluigi's World games.'
