Forums - Gaming Discussion - Now that the hype has died off, how good was GTA V in reality?

7.5/10 started playing it this month.

Shitty framerate. (a game with shit framerate can simply not get better than 8/10 framerate and fluid gameplay is simply more important for a game than polycount etc because its a game not a picture thats purpose is to look nice)

Extremely stupid ally A.I (beign stuck or walking completely relaxed while entering your car even tho there is 3 stars etc... You know why hurry right?..... and cheater Cop A.I (when you are under a roof a helicopter that spawned after you were already hidden can still see you etc cops can also see through some walls etc..)

Somewhat akward controls.

Logic flaws like:
Gruppe 6 transporters only carrying $1000? really? And when you fail you lose $5000 because you have to pay the hospital bill? ROFL

Jumping into people (so they fall down hills/buildings/cliffs/ whatever and die for hours does nothing at all but punching them once results in cops showing up even if you didnt start the fight.

There is NO cop anywhere in the game but as soon as you have 2 stars there is a cop car in every single fucking street ROFL

The story is great the characters are great the world is great having other games inside (like the awesome Tenni etc) are great too but actually playing it sometimes is very annoying (because of the above mentioned flaws)

P.S.
Other games like Castlevania Lords of Shadow on 360 would get a 3.5/10 imho because the game drops to 8fps. the game is a joke.....
(my review scores are old school not the worthless arbitrary scores of todays gaming world where 99% of the games are above 7/10...).

I will try on PS4 soon .

7/10 for me. I really appreciated the insane attention to detail, but the game overall was mediocre compared to the PS2 era games.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

GTAV was a fantastic game. One of the best I've played. I'd give it a 9.8/10 at least.

I already mentioned my opinion on the game.  Off topic, here are a few open world games that I'd recommend over GTA5 for those who are interested in gameplay.

Infamous 2. Not like GTA as much as this one is shooting only, but much more enjoyable game when it comes to missions and combat.

The Saboteur. GTA clone with better controls, worse atmosphere. Driving isn't as arcade like as it is in GTA5 so that could be a plus or minus, but it's not like driving a boat on land like in GTA4. There is no auto aim on The Saboteur with very fluid shooting mechanics, it's got a dedicated grenade button,, it's got the best snap to cover system in any game I've ever played and you won't ever get stuck in cover, you can places explosives in vehicles while you're driving and dive out of them so they crash and explode into whatever(GTA has this but only when you go to a shop and get it placed.) Every mission can be completed stealthily or run and gun, and there's a slower Uncharted climbing system in place for the player to climb literally anything that has a hand hold. Just Cause like destruction system with thousands of optional Nazi propaganda to destroy. PS360 and PC game.

Scarface the World is Yours. My favorite GTA like game. Miami is small and runs in a circle, has few cross streets in each area, but there's a lot of areas that are explorable outside of the vehicle. There are also the island towns that Tony can go to by boat that are decent in size. The missions on this game are good. It's a direct sequel to the movie except if Tony didn't die and he shot his way out of the mansion. The game has the same auto aim the newer GTA games have(this game came out prior to GTA4 though, so the idea was actually taken from this game) but the player doesn't have to use auto aim as the game has extremely fluid aiming and a mechanic in the game called the balls meter fills up faster the better you play, so if you use no auto aiming and play better you fill the meter faster(takes more balls to fill up the further into the game you get.) Amazing game. This game is on the PS2, Xbox, Wii, and PC. First mission here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rn9IbUtbzgY

Current Platforms: HighendPC[rip]/PS4/PS3[rip]/Vita[rip]

Never played the MP, but I really enjoyed the SP. My hype for the game wasn't that high to begin with because of 4, but this really blew me away.

9.7/10 Would buy a Xbox One version if they re-released it.

I wouldn't know, I've only played GTA III and IV!

One of these days I'll play a GTA game, one of these days!
