So all sequels have no console selling ability purely because they're sequels? lol get out! With that logic, MK8 n SSB4 would have no appeal either since they're just HD remixs of MK7 and Brawl!

3D World was not what fans wanted, simple. They wanted the next big Mario-Galaxy-esque leap, or failing that, Mario 64 II. They didn't want a beefed up 3DS game.

With Kart and Smash, expectations are different. People don't expect as much ambition from them as from 3D Mario.

lol dude seriously!? You're gonna speak for all people as if you know exactly what each and every one of them thinks!? Once again, get out! xD

Obviously I'm not speaking for all people, but I'm confident I'm speaking for the majority of the core fans. Do you remember how betrayed they all were at E3? 3D World was greeted with derision and anger because it was not what most fans wanted.

First of all, that was at the E3 reveal and only from the people who didn't actually play it. Now everyone loves the game! Secondly, forum go-ers do not make up much of a games sales, otherwise Call of Duty wouldn't sell as well as it does with all the flack it get's around here! Lastly, only cold hard sales can really prove whether people like something, and seeing as SM3DL will have sold about as much as Galaxy and 64 lifetime, it's clear people like it about as much those games, probably moreso among the general populace than critics and forum go-ers, but still!

Yet 3D World's sales are merely good, not great. Because it wasn't the next Mario 64/Mario Galaxy.

or maybe its because it released on a system that isnt too popular to begin with.

A popular enough game MAKES its system popular.

Except when the game still doesn't move many consoles despite being from a proven franchise like 3D Mario, NSMB, Wii ___, and Donkey Kong Country, then you know it's the system that is at fault, since there's no other reason for one popular franchise after another sell badly compared to it's predecessor. SM3DW should still end up around 5 million lifetime, becoming one of the Wii U's best sellers.

A more desirable Mario could have sold considerably better than 3D World has, even on Wii U. (Which would also have a bigger base as a result) The problem is that 3D World was not the Mario 64 II or Galaxy-esque leap that the fanbase wanted.

If you really don't think the next big leap for 3D Mario wouldn't have moved more hardware and software than a sequel to a 3DS game, then frankly you're out of touch with the market, like Nintendo.

And Super Mario 3D World isn't a brand new 8th gen Mario far beyond the capabilities of the 3DS?

Wiimote is not a secondary peripheral to the WiiU, it's as much a fundamental part of gameplay as before. That's like saying the 2nd screen on the 3DS is a secondary feature to 3D. :-/

3D World, great as it is, is essentially just a beefed up 3D Land.

And no offense, but the second statement is just so wrong I don't know where to begin...

Galaxy as great as it is, is essentially just a beefed up Mario 64. Small gravity is just a step in the forward direction, as a spiritual successor should be.

And no offense, but this whole areguement is so wrong with you. You have an opinion, but you present it as fact.

WiiU is selling badly, not because of the 3DS, but because of it's stupid Gamepad and lack of Wii Sports/Killer new IP. 3DS is affecting WiiU sales just as much as DS did to Wii. Remember argue all you like, but the two biggest "traditional" IP's on the Wii, were just as big on the DS (New Super Mario Bros and Mario Kart).

Heck if anything 3DS is more different to WiiU then DS was to Wii. Last I checked Luigi's Mansion and Animal Crossing were two of the biggest games on 3DS, and Pikmin/Wii Party/NintendoLand are also three of the biggest WiiU games. See the lack of cross platform?
