Forums - Sony - DriveClub game director leaves Evolution Studios

http://www.videogamer.com/ps4/driveclub/news/driveclub_game_director_leaves_evolution_studios.html

its not in related to the layoffs that were annouced ealier

DriveClub's game director Col Rodgers has left Evolution Studios, VideoGamer.com can reveal.

Rodgers left the studio in February to form indie startup Big Red Switch Games, a development studio that he says is working on "some cool game concepts".

Rodgers also confirmed to VideoGamer that his departure is not connected to today's wave of layoffs, which saw redundancies at Evolution, Guerrilla Cambridge and Sony London Studios.

However, with Rodgers out it isn't yet clear who will be leading development on Evolution's delayed PS4 racer in his place.

Last month it was revealed that Sony had previously taken DriveClub "back to the drawing board", although the game is still technically due to launch in early 2014.

Welp, looks like Driveclub's in development hell.

I totally forgot about this game. They need to release it before some well branded racers start hitting the market like The Crew/Next Need for speed.

Another TLG here :P

With all these people leaving, surely we aren't too far away from having a release. Wouldn't be surprised if Sony shut down Evolution after Driveclub launches, they should only need one flagship exclusive racing game, give Polyphony a kick up the arse to lower their development time for Gran Turismo going forward.

Certainly seems like it.  Indies are the future afterall.  AAA game development is getting way too expensive and the devs have to priortize making a profit over making the game that they want.  It's sad when even a great studio like Irrational can't survive.

Man, is this what 2014 is basically gonna be like? Just people leaving companies? I get trimming the fat but when leads leave, isn't that kinda scary in some way?
