Why are our owned consoles and console preference relevant?

Most of it is about personal knowledge. Out of our mod team, none of us have Xbox Ones or PS4's. Having users who are knowledgeable about a system based on personal experience is more likely to be able to determine at a quicker pace whether a statement is just being made to troll or whether the user genuinely knows what they are talking about. Though it is sometimes as plain as "The Xbox One Is stupid!" there are some users who are more stealthy with their posts than others.

Also, to a degree, spurge is right but at the same time it doesn't really have anything to do with why I asked about console preference/owned. When the community feels as though their mods are specifically leaning towards one company (i.e.- Nintendo) some users often jump the gun and think we're making all of our decisions based on Nintendo. Interestingly enough, I can speak for every mod on here that we've been called bias towards and against every system.

I've often felt there is a strong pro-Sega bias amongst the mods.

Do any mods own WiiU's?  The flak that console cops on these forums is insane. I think that and I don't even own one!

To be fair.  Wii U is currently in Vita territory.  It's not like the Wii catching flack when it was all super successful and what not.

Part of being a good mod is knowing that equality =/= treating every console the same.

It's treating consoles the same when in the same condition.

Saying one system has no RPGs when it has 2 ranked at 70 isn't going to get moderated the same as saying a system has no RPGs when it has 50+.

Thats a fair point.  Though I don't necessarily think that extends to mean-spirited speculation that Nintendo is about to Dreamcast the Wii U.

This is war, quick someone find a guy with a Sonic avatar! (old sonic, not that limp wristed new guy)

Now you're speaking my language!

As long as I'm not nominated for the Darwin awards, all is good.

I haven't quite decided yet, need to monitor a few more of your posts first.

But really, I know I would never be accepted even if i applied, because I am not joking, my first port of call would be to drop the entire user table from SQL and force everyone to re-register, but before i reopened register.php i would force registrations from isp provided or mobile linked emails only, gmail, hotmail and every other free email service would be blacklisted.

I would also force a rule of not being able to make new threads until you had 100 posts, then even after that, revoke thread creation status permanently, the moment you received your first moderation that resulted in a ban of any length.

Then i would add a script to automatically close every thread that contained the string "_ reasons why" or "_ things that", and "doom" and permaban its creator.

:)

If you could do half of that we'd probably make you a moderator soley on the basis that we don't have any access to the site script in the first place and desperatly want to fix some things.

Not sure why I would need to be a moderator to do that though, and I will not mince my words, if I was a moderator a whole bunch of people would get banned for trivial shit.

For example I will ban anyone that tries to say 3d sonic is better than 2d sonic.

That would go for other moderators too, permissions permitting.

Hey at least I'm honest, I know a few users who if moderated would try their hardest to ban me for any possible reason because, well, they just would ;)

I make that 5 days from now. If so, hopefully we should know who has made it in a little over a week.

With the volume of applications we've received already, perhaps a fair bit longer.

ah, but how many of those applicants are you having to guess who they are?  since the username wasn't an original requirement...

Two, but one's identity is fairly easy to work out.

Wow, that many huh? I guess it has been a couple years since the last applications...site has got a lot of new users since then.

So I'm assuming there's 3 positions then? Should be interesting...

I'd say at least that many, and perhaps a few more depending on the quality of the applicants.

So... Do we get to vote at all or is that not a thing?

sure you can vote.  it just won't count towards anything...

So if we send in an email do we get one back? I kind of want Axum to analyze me. If I don't get chosen I want to know exactly why. Purely for scientific reasons.

Also, I'm all for Viper getting fast-tracked to Modship. He would be great.

Dang, looks like there's gonna be a lot of competition!
