Which company is the most essential for console gaming?

Nintendo 453 49.08%

Sony 416 45.07%

Microsoft? 53 5.74%

Total:922

This is an example of what to do if you want your thread to explode into a petty war zone. Congrats, OP.

Anyhow, I chose Nintendo purely for the fact that I don't care for much from the other two. The only reason I would buy a PS4 is for what Square Enix has to offer and the only reason I'd buy a XBO is for Halo. That's it.

i voted microsoft cause i wanna see the results

We reap what we sow

I choose Sony because I grew out of saving princess Peach in Mario along time ago.

CPU: Ryzen 9950X3D
GPU: MSI 4090 SUPRIM X 24G
Motherboard: MSI MEG X670E GODLIKE
RAM: CORSAIR DOMINATOR PLATINUM 32GB DDR5
SSD: Kingston FURY Renegade 4TB
Gaming Console: PLAYSTATION 5 PRO

The console industry is ecosystem that feeds off the various players in the market. Everyone would be significantly worse off if ANY of them left the console business. competition drives innovation and price competitiveness, less players would mean gamers get screwed regardless of who it is that is left.

If it wasn't for Xbox, next gen consoles would've been just upgrades in graphic cards. Same old JRPGs, no truly advancements in game mechanics (TPS/FPS), no blockbuster games etc...
Xbox got Western devs a chance to be themselves and consequently dominate.

Nintendo introduces gamer as children, Sony keeps them gaming through adult hood, and MS makes it mainstream in the US. With only one by itself would fail, when it was only Nintendo gaming wasn't taken seriously at all.

I was actually happy when gaming wasn't taken seriously/trying to be hollywood so hard.

Thats actually for a different but related reason. If not for Sony and later MS, Console gaming would practically be dead. And PC gaming would be nowhere near as fruitful as it is now.

There's no way of no this for sure. I doubt console gaming would've died. We would just have different companies involved. We could speculate that console gaming might have been better if Sony and MS weren't involved, or speculate the complete opposite. I imagine though that things would largely be same to today's reality.

Current gaming platforms - Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, New 3DS, PC

Personally, Playstation is essential. Just because it has the games I enjoy. I like Nintendo too, but there is more to my liking on Playstation.

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

Someone sounds jealous because they couldn't do it first
