Forums - Sony - The Current Problem With The PS4

What? Citing Titanfall is a bit odd given 360 and PC, and possibly even Wii U (lol). PS4 is as well serviced in AAAs as Xb one. But most ar cross gen AAAs. The 8th gen exclusive AAAs will be there by the end of this year. Meanwhile I'll be having great fun with my free Tomb Raider for PS3 off PSN+ once I've finished inFamous.

I agree that the PS4 has a lack of AAA exclusives. Other than Drive Club (the jury is still out if this'll be a AAA racer) and The Order: 1886, there are no other PS4 AAA exclusives that have been announced thus far. I'm sure we'll see more at E3, but the whole "Sony has more and better exclusives" argument just isn't stacking up for 2014 as of today. Eventually we'll get a new GoW / Uncharted / GT etc, but it looks like those are all slated for 2015 and beyond at this point.

InFamous and Killzone: SF are AAA titles. A AAA is a game with a large budget and large marketing scheme behind it to attract large scale sales. They are the riskiest games to make.

At least they can give you an answer of a big AAA title a few months off with PS4. Poor Vita owners are told to look at the PS4 library if they ask for non indie games.

Ultimately this is consequence of the AAA model. Higher budgets for sure bets and nothing really in between. Right now those big AAA titles have to do well. 2 or 3 misses of that size and the company wont exist anymore.

It has been out 4 months. What did he expect?

''Since launch day, we really haven’t had anything meet these criteria aside from the new Infamous'',,,does that guy realize that system just came out what,14 weeks ago?,chit takes time, you don't just press a button and whallah,a new huge game is made.. killzone/knack/are actually pretty fun games imo(and challenging). why does he not include the launch exclusives to sink ''some time'' into? no reason to exclude launch exclusives... also whats wrong with exclusive content with better graphics (and probably/most likely plays better on ps4?) he said it like its a negativity... I also wish buzz words like ''define'' would take a hike... curious if that guy would be happy with a huge massive open world exclusive and expensive (cause that seemed important to him) game that took 50+ hours to beat, but f-en sucked horse nuts, would he be satisfied then? who cares if it sucks as long as it hit all his scary important criterias.... anyways imo,4 months in,ps4 has some pretty good exclusive stuff out to keep anyone busy whos thinking about buying a ps4 right now (again, not focusing on the multiplats that look/play better on ps4)...

he also gave a small dig at some ps4 games that were cross-platform games, but didnt mention you dont need a xone AT ALL to play titanfall(that defining game)

Don't buy a system during the first 6 months its been released? Seriously, you would think the decision to buy a system would happen AFTER a person looks at what games have been released. Didn't buy a PS3 myself until the week before inFamous and I was already interested in Resogun and Killzone.

4 ≈ One

I want to play MGSV Ground Zeroes. I bought it yesterday for PS4 even though I only have a PS3, planning to buy a PS4 as soon as I've finished 2, 3 and Peace Walker.

I look forward to playing that, but otherwise there's not much.

Yep.

That's why you wait to buy the console until the big titles come if you aren't interested in what the console has right now.

The competition doesn't have anymore though either.  All we have for Halo is a trailer, Sunset Overdrive might come but we know next to nothing about that, Fable is a dying franchise (would love to see it come back, but this is something I will have to see to believe), QB is slated 2015, and a new Gears game is only just being started.  MS literally has NOTHING good slated for 2014 unless E3 reveals more (I believe it will for both MS and Sony).

Meanwhile the PS4 will see the retail release of The Order 1886, MLB The Show 2014, Deep Down, and Driveclub this year on top of the recent release of Infamous.  Furthermore for those who are interested in Planetside 2 on console, Final Fantasy XIV on next gen console, and are into indies the PS4 will serve in those aspects as well.

MS blew their load early and most of what has been announced probably won't see the light of day till 2015 as far as their most hyped games go.  Sony on the otherhand has left a bit of mystery, which will generate more hype closer to release than letting it die down over a year or two.  We have confirmation on what Sony 1st party companies are up to, but don't know the games yet.  Much of this will come out at E3.  Don't get me wrong, both will have much to reveal.  But I believe Sony will have more to show on the exclusive AAA game front simply due to the fact that they reveal closer to actual release than MS does.

So that said, yes the "PS has more exclusives" argument does still hold weight.  Especially since Titanfall is now confirmed to be secured by EA and will likely cause us to see the sequal released multiplat on consoles.  ;)

I'm just going to go ahead and say it, this guy is an Xbox fan. His article seems to give a complete pass to the One based on ONE game, yet goes on to bitch about the PS4's lack of games, while actually mentioning a quite a few of them. Sorry, but the PS4 actually has a great line up for a console that's only been out for 4 months. If this guy isn't seriously an Xbox fan, then he has never been through another console launch in his life.
