Forums - Sales - Infamous SS : Selling better than Titanfall(XB1)= FAIL

So to be considered a success it almost has to outsell it's predecessors lifetime retail sales in 2 days?

Sure...

Someone please spare us all and get this thread out of here.

So, did I say in the OP that it would be expected to match the Titanfall XB1 sales in 2 days?

I don't claim to have any sales numbers at all.

I simply believe that the sales of the Game should eventually outsell ther other game 2 to 1 based on all of the obvious factors.

So if TitanFall sells. 5M lifetime then InFamous needs 10M or else it's a failure ?

If so then I truly hope you don't believe that .

Got a retro room? Post it here!

I've been a fan of Sucker Punch since the first Sly, and I've been an inFamous fan since the first one. I'm very enthused and eagerly looking forward to inFamous SS regardless of average review scores and sales figures. Why? Because I'm a gamer and NOT and asshole. And that's something to be proud of.

If Titanfall sells 5 million on XB1, that would be a miracle at this point.  It will be lucky to hit 3 million on the XB1.

Of course, if Infamous SS hits 6 million, that would also be a miracle.

That's the point of the OP isn't it?  If Infamous (an existing series) comes out and sells less than a new IP available on PC and a system with a 80 million+ install base and is being compared to a title available on a system with HALF the install base.  Why is that not a failure?

I agree, I also can't wait to get the game and enjoy it like I have the other Infamous games.  But this post is in the sales forum.  I am not discussing how I will enjoy the game or why the review scores are right or wrong.  I have made a sales comparison based on console launch dates and system sales.  Making a sideways comment call me an asshole only proves that you are posting in the wrong thread.

For a product to fail is to not cater to its fanban and not make a profit.  Everything else is icing on the cake.

I didn't call you an asshole.

Edit: In fact, I hardly read any of your posts before I posted my stance of appreciating games for the right reasons.

Success and failure isn't based on how something sells compared to a title from an entirely different genre. Even more so when the genre it is supposed to double the sales of is the much more popular one.

The whole idea of inFamous needing to double the sales of the ultra super omega hyped to the heavens and back TitanFall in order to not be considered a failure is absurd.

I believe Second Son will finish with. ~2.5-3M lifetime including digital. Possibly more. That would make it successful, regardless of what TitanFall does.

But this does and does not make sense. An install base does not determine the sales of a game. Also there have been plenty of new ips that have outsold existing ones before. That didn't make them a failure. Lastly his point still stands lifetime if Titanfall sales 5mil then what you are saying is that Infamous has to sell a MINIMUM 10mil or it is a failure.

The install bases will increase and the games will continue to sale. So you kind of didn't answer his question. Just pointing that out....

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

So in order to not be considered a failure, a super hero game has to sell twice as much as the most hyped up title so far this year. A title that even is in the undisputably most popular genre.. Mind blown. If it does then it will only illustrate the dead on arrival state of the xbox one.
