the downplay is pretty hefty, the 180 machine vs the saviour of gaming

I wouldn't call it downplay. Roughly four months after launch and looking at the numbers, we see that XBox One has basically retreated into its two main markets: NA and UK. And in both markets, the console loses money ($450 with free game in both areas) to stay ahead. That is not really encouraging at this time.

That is not how it works. No one is losing money with Titanfall bundles.

The only reason PS4 seems to be seling much more outside USA and UK is because Sony disclaimed the 6mi mark by March 2nd, so, VGChartz had to fit it´s numbers to that figure. And was not that accurated since it was undertraking PS4 in the USA in February by 100k, so you have to remove 100k from somewhere else, mostly EU since the Japan number are also public acknowledged.

We won´t have any real information about XOne WW sales until Microsoft first quarter financial report by late April if I'm not mistaken.

This is good news for the industry and great news for gamers... Competition is good, and support of the old products will continue!

So true. Shame that not everyone is mature enough to understand

...Let the Sony Domination continue with the PS4...

Who are you trying to fool? Most teardowns seen list manufacturing costs of the X1 around $500 (and these might be generous estimates).

You are telling me that selling a console/game bundle for $450 (that includes taxes and store margins in UK) , nobody loses money?

Yes.

And if you think the XOne costs Microsoft 500 to manufacture you are delusional, the highest a saw a teardown was about U$475 and that is debatable... any way, most of then are guesstimation.

PS: by the way the bundle costs U$499... pricing at 450 would be still a good call for Microsoft, but that might strech the EA margins.

Enjoy the one week victory. Now that Infamous Second Son is out it's over.

Absolutly agree.  I really do not want Sony to get their swagger back.  Instead I like the kind of desperation / focus they have had up to this point.  Its a new Sony that seems to have understood their mistake in the past and looking to not make them again.

This Sony has also made MS who thought they knew how the business is run play in the weaker position and play catch up.  MS is much better playing at the weaker position then in the dominate.  When they are in a weak position they do everything to gain market and mind share.  When they are in a strong position they only know how to keep that position which never benefits the customer.

Personally, I like this arrangment.  As long as Sony does not get to far ahead, they do not lose focus.  As long as MS is playing from a weak position they do not get the big head and must do more consumer focused ideals to keep pace.  Its a perfect balance that I hope is maintained thoughout this gen.

Should be interesting to see if Titanfall can increase the baseline figure for Xbox One going forward. It's going to drop heavily next week, but how far is something to ponder.

Good Dark Souls 2 sales.
