Plenty especially if you include digital only games.

Funny I just played Fables Legends not that long ago and it came out this year if you don't own one don't talk BS about it.
| sales2099 said: What do you expect.....it is the 9th year of the console. The Last of Us released in PS3's 7th year......I am VERY curious to see what PS3 releases are like in its 9th year in 2015 to contrast with the games I listed. The fact of the matter is that the games that are 3rd party, are not coming to PS3, which in itself deserves a mention. Ports or not, Titanfall and Project Spark are high profile for Xbox and it would certainly give it an edge over whatever PS3 has going for it this year. |
The age of the console is not relevant in the context of the future now, because we have new variables. I expect the PS3's support to wain considerably now because it's successor has been released. That would happened regardless to if it was in its 5th year or 15th. But for the sake of argument, let's compare the PS3's 2013 to 360's 2012 (age wise, the same year for both).
Sony's 1st party AAA games: Beyond: Two Souls, The Last of Us, Puppeteer, God of War: Ascensions, Gran Turismo 6, MLB:13, Sly Cooper 4.
MS's 1st party AAA games: Halo 4, Forza Horizon, Fable: The Journy (lol).
This is of course all without considering the amazing "true" exclusive support the PS3 had last year (Ni No Kuni, Tales of Xillia, Ratchet & Clank etc).
MS have done an excellent job with supporting XBL, but when it comes to proper big titles for the 360 they and been far from good.

Off the bat I like your filtering. Kinect is out. Exclusive rules out 360 multiplats not on PS3. I bet you wouldn't want to include XBLA right? I see where this is going. 360 managed to do well in the last few years regardless. It coasted on multiplats, its flagship exclusives, and XBLA. Now in 2014 it has a arguably superior library to PS3 in 2014. If you align for time of launch it certainly is better then what PS3 would offer in 2015. Ironically, 360 gets the last laugh with games support. |
Kinect is out because people who chose 360 8 years ago didn't do it because of kinect. We are talking long time support here. Not everyone loves motion gaming.
As you want to talk about PS3, Sony does have a very good long time support without forcing PSmove on everyone. But I even with that, I'm absolutely sure PS3 will be long forgotten in sales on its 13th year.
So I don't see how MS could keep people interested in ONE for 12 years.

Yup it went out with a bang with Halo 4 outselling every PS3 exclusive in 2012 combined. What a way to go!

So you think Digital only games could keep people interested in 360 for 4 more years ?

You know the marketplace, which includes weekly sales on full retail games to XBLA games, can always give a deal worthy of purchase. They should in theory only get better as the console ages further. And 360 also has plenty non-gaming apps that serve their purposes.
Besides I think 360 owners should be content with Titanfall and fiddle around with Project Spark for some time.

I have huge backlog of 360 games I'm sure I will still play the 360 four years from now with a catalog of 1000's of physical and digital games the 360 has more then enough games to keep anyone intrested in it for another four years or longer. As a matter of fact I will probably put in another 200+ hours into Forza 4 alone even though I got most of the achievements but there are still plenty of badges that I haven't unlocked. Unless your gamerscore is close to Stallion83's there are plenty of games that most 360 owners never tried.

The 360 had an enthusiast CPU and a high end GPU when it launched, and it will crawl to 10 years. Do you really think a console with a mid-range CPU and lower-midrange gpu will last longer?!
Yeah I do laugh buddy.
