I truly hope Shenmue 3 is one of those exclusives. It probably isn't though.. :(

In all seriousness, am missing something? How is this news?

It's news because they are said to be exclusives. Meaning not on Nintendo or Microsoft consoles. But much more importantly it would imply they are not cross gen games either. The faster development is also good news for those waiting on new games.

Ah, I get it now. Even so, did anyone really think that there were no Japanese exclusives in development for the PS4? Playstation has been  the go to place for Japanese games since time immemorial. Xbox and Nintendo have been largely irrelevant there for a while. XD Sure, console market in Japan is shrinking, but it's not that dismal. Not yet, anyway.

Oh, and "faster development" doesn't mean much of anything without any context. They could mean, "Oh, we were planning on getting this game out in 3 more years, but it looks like it'll be ready in 2!"

Monster Hunter 5
Dragon Quest X: Complete Edition
Dragon Quest VII HD remake
Dragon Quest VIII Remake
Dragon Quest IX: Remake
Dragon Quest XI
Final Fantasy XV (exclusive in Japan)
Final Fantasy VII Remake
Final Fantasy VIII Remake
Final Fantasy IX Remake
Kingdom Hearts 3 (exclusive in Japan)
Biohazard Remake
Biohazard 2 Remake
Biohazard 3 Remake
Biohazard 4 Remake
Biohazard 7
Onimusha 4
new Tales of
Star Ocean V
Suikoden VI
Breath of Fire VI (announced for ios/android, but they were just kidding)
Dark Cloud III
DMC V
Gran Turismo 6 XL
LoD 2
new "FF like budget IP" from SCEJA as was rumored
TLG
Legend of Mana sequel
Chrono Trigger Remake
Chrono Cross Remake
Chrono Break
Persona 5 PS4 Edition
Everybody's Golf 7: VR and Move compatible
Everybody's Tennis 2: VR and Move compatible
MGSV:PP (exclusive in Japan)
Silent Hill Reboot
New AAA JRPG IP from SE Japan

And then I woke up and realized the big exclusives were indie games (note, I do like indies but would love to see a console take off in Japan so as to not see the country's best games and IPs go to mobiles. Handhelds, well the 3DS, has sold pretty well in Japan, but even its numbers are declining. I also do like handhelds, but often times you want to play something on the big screen and something like the 3DS just cannot provide that)

PS4 thread here, you're not in the good place.

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

i would get more excited if i didn't "know" that ~80% of these will never lead japan.

They could really do with announcing some of these; might give the PS4 a bit of short term momentum which it seems to be desperately lacking at the minute.

Sadly, I'd guess most of this stuff will be games from the otaku crew of Nippon Ichi/Compile Heart/Falcom/Gust/Acquire etc. (not that there's anything wrong with that - I love these developers, but I also never doubted that they'd move to the PS4).

Or outsourced stuff from the bigger publishers like Namco Bandai. So stuff that'll never leave Japan.

Still, it should all help sales over there.

GDC is coming up. There will be announcements soon.

Starts in 3 days and lasts another 4.

was thinking the same thing! this is obvious !

At last 20 idol and 30 puzzle and 40 rhythm games. All exclusive to PS4 and never released in the west.

Winning!
