Just talking about the bullet. Don't get the big deal on blue shells since you can escape the flying version with mushrooms but escaping the ground one seems unlikely unless there is a power up that can negate that and I don't know of one.

It's very rare to have a mushroom in 1st to use to dodge Blue Shells. I much more frequently dodge bullet bills by swerving out of the way.

This! Plus the Bullet Bill always travels along the outside of the track where you shouldn't be anyway, and only people who're behind can get it, so you may not even be in range of many people. So yeah, Blue Shell is waaaaaaay more hazardous!
