Forums - Gaming - My Prediction; EA will drop support for the Xbox ONE and re-up support for the Wii U.

The more I think about it, the more it makes sense.

Right now, the gaming world is fractured into the hardcore crowd and the family/casual gaming crowd. Wii U has more or less cornered the family/casual gaming end of things and PS4 is trouncing XBox One with the hardcore gamers. If you were in charge of EA, would you support two platforms that catered to the same crowd? Doesn't make any sense. You'd reach the widest audience by supporting the PS4 and Wii U without the added expense of a third console.

I've heard this argument before, but really, how much can it possibly cost to port a game to XBOne? Its practically identical to the ps4, and we already heard ubi saying that Wii u ports cost around a mil, so I can't imagine it'd cost too much more than that for the One. There's basically a guarantee that most devs will make back the porting cost. Add to that all the marketing assistance and other "incentives" that M$ offers, and I don't see any chance of them losing third party support this gen, even if they sell under a forth of what Sony does.

Also, “Nintendo was dead to us very quickly. It became a kids IP platform and we don’t really make games for kids."

Straight from the horse's mouth.

EA won't stop supporting Xbox, because Microsoft won't stop paying them to support it.

If its sales drop to Wii U like levels then I doubt it'll get any more exclusives, but the support will 100% remain.

Conversely, I think EA will see what sort of HW bump the Wii U receives from Mario Kart 8, and if it is significant enough (ie. 7 figures, with a long tail) then EA may well put out a port or two to test the waters. But I doubt it.

"A new hope" - the thread.

Yes, sure. MS is giving money to EA for every game they release on their platform, sure...

Xbox One port from/to PS4 is a lot less expensive for hardware and gameplay similarity. MS is paying for exclusive. And XBox is currently selling faster than Wii U. Also the genre of games EA makes fit more on Xbox than Wii U.
Your reason is that Wii U will outsell significantly. How much do you predict it will outsell, and why ?
Here your post looks more like a wish than a prediction.

is it april already?

Nope, it's just another kaizar thread.

I agree that EA will wind down their "special relationship" with Microsoft to a degree because let's face it, EA follow the money and it appears that the money is over at PlayStation this generation, but they will never stop supporting Microsoft, and they certainly won't start haemorrhaging money by supporting the Wii U.

Nope. X1 won't sell nearly as bad this generation to make publishing multiplatform games on it unprofitable. It won't win, but it'll be a very viable platform with at least 1/2 of PS4 sales. WiiU, on the other hand, it's already happened, and sadly I don't see the situation improving.

Um, no

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine
