Where's the 4th option of none?

A monoply in itslef is not bad. In your hypothetical situation of the market leader going sour mid way through the gen, what are they doing that's bad for gamers?

I'd want either Sony or Microsoft to go, because they have a very similar philosophy about running a gaming business. I like Nintendo because they think differently, but by the same logic I like having a company that thinks like Sony and Microsoft as well. Thing is, we only really need one of each. I'd prefer Microsoft left because I feel of the two, Sony offers the greater variety.

That said, I do NOT think the industry needs to only have 2, or that it would necessarily be better that way. In fact, the competition between Sony and Microsoft is healthy. Nintendo doesn't directly compete with them, not due to a difference in audience, but due to a difference in philosophy. What I think would be a way to make things better would be if there were a 4th console manufacturer that also didn't compete with Sony and Microsoft but instead competed with Nintendo. I feel that would give Nintendo's philsophy more legitimacy and popularity, and would grow the industry overall. Simply adding another console manufacturer that acted just like Sony and Microsoft wouldn't grow the industry and would instead merely oversaturate it and harm it.

The lack of Ouya support is worrying.. seriously.. with all the info we would be giving Google we could be gaming for free with targeted ads once in a while..
