Well hopefully it brings some attention to this issue and maybe MS will back off.  MS might give away a free dev kit but indie devs clearly don't care about that. So while you can try and justify it all you want the devs don't see the "free dev kit" as great as a trade off as you do.

Also before you start parading around this "free dev kit" as something so great maybe you should find out how much a dev kit cost for one. Then you can find out how much a dev loses by having to wait to port their game for the most difficult of all consoles to develop for. When they could be making money off the PS4 version while they develop for the X1. Maybe even make improvement based on people's reactions to it.


^^^This.  A dev kit is not so expensive that a "free" (if a claue that may decrease your reach and therefore profit potential is attatched it is NOT free) kit is the greatest thing to hit Indies in a lifetime or something.

Fair enough.

Also Sony loan out dev kits for free to many indie developers if they request it.

I could probably afford a dev kit with my personal money. Doesnt even remotely compare.

Microsoft can screw Sony from having parity but they don't like it when it doesn't happen to them. They can dish it but they cannot take it. Get it now?

If they're accepted into ID@Xbox, yeah. Sony seems pretty free with handing out kits if they're keen on your game, though, so it's more or less the same thing: free dev kits at the platform holder's discretion.

That would be my thought

Much of that depends on who is leading. As conversely studios might say, "PS4 is our lead platform, and if we port it to X1 we have to delay it months to align, so we won't bother with the X1 as PS4 has 65% of the global market."

Some Indie dev may see it as necessary they've made it clear they don't like the parity clause. If nobody says anything and just accepts it then MS has no reason to change anything. As we've seen already a big enough reaction from the fans will get MS to change thier policies.
