I'm thinking NSMBU will become the next 4 million seller when MK8 releases.

Notes:

  • There was no notable shifting of positions in the worldwide Top 30 this week, and the rising bottom of the chart made it all the harder for newcomers to appear.
  • Publisher-wise, EA continues to gain ground on Nintendo for total games sold in the Top 30, selling about 140,000 games to Nintendo's 110,000. Besides these two, no other publisher of games comes close in either current or total sales.
  • In North America, Titanfall was by far the lead game of the week, gaining the most ground, even more than the multiple CoD: Ghosts versions combined. However, it will still take a few weeks for it to overtake Assassin's Creed 4.
  • Europe continues to have a competition for its bottom spot. By the time we get a definitive winner here, Watch Dogs and Mario kart 8 will likely be out.
  • Based on pre-order data, Watch Dogs has already sold at least 600,000 copies in the US alone, and will thus likely sell as many as 750,000 in North America alone week 1. This would NOT be enough to put it in the Top 10 immediately, but would put it in the Top 15 easily. Furthermore, if Watch Dogs has a similar international recception as Assassin's Creed 4, it can end up selling roughly 1.5 million week 1. Again, that would fall short of the Top 10, but definately would be in the Top 15 worldwide for this gen.
  • Mario Kart 8 is going to be more modest, at least at first. Pre-orders look like they'll end in the 250,000 to 300,000 range in the US, well short of reaching top figures. However, it SHOULD be in the Top 30 immediately, especially thanks to Japan actually being a factor in this equation.

Notes:

  • This week, LEGO Marvel tied with Knack worldwide, and will likely surpass it next week. Otherwise, there were no cng positions in the Top 30.
  • However, Nintendo Land made the 3 million milestone this week. Another milestone was Titanfall, which has become the #1 Xbone game of all time in both the entire world and America in particular, beating out Call of Duty: Ghosts.
  • EA continued its path to overtake Nintendo in the Top 30, selling roughly 30,000 more games this week. However, assuming the rate remains constant, it would take EA years to overtake Nintendo. New Super Mario Bros U alone gives a lot of buffer room for Nintendo. And although software sales will pick up later this year, it would be a mistake to discount Nintendo. Especially with Mario Kart 8 coming up, which will at worst overtake Donkey Kong and boost the Nintendo total.
  • Wolfenstein will enter the ring next week. It should make the Top 30 at least, probably knocking either Donkey Kong, Tomb Raider, or Skylanders off the list. The New Order also will mark Bethesda's de facto entry into the 8th generation of consoles.
  • I find it fascinating how even though EA has released more games for the Xbone, notably Titanfall, they've sold more games on the PS4. I blame FIFA for that.

I noticed that you don't really update anything that isn't in the top 30 games...

EDIT: Nevermind, I read that wrong.

Weekly Update done. Next week will be really fun!

Notes:

  • This week, Infamous: Second Son went up two places, from #14 to #12 worldwide, thanks to its good legs (nearly 60,000 copies this week!). It will take a while for it to reach the Top 10 though, even if Watch Dogs and Mario Kart disappoint; New Super Luigi U is over 200,000 ahead and is selling around 15,000 a week before the expected Wii U boost from Mario Kart. Also, Just Dance 2014 outsold ZombiU this week, and Skylanders fell to an untied last place

I don't think it was the legs. It launched in Japan this week.

Looks like MK8 is joining the party ASAP.

Wow cool info, thanks.
