Bad Meta score?

Anything below a 90 17 5.78%

Anything below a 80 36 12.24%

Anything below a 70 128 43.54%

Anything below a 60 76 25.85%

Anything 0-59 30 10.20%

Unless it's a perfect 100 it's bad. 7 2.38%

Total:294

I take both the metascore and the userscore into account but I have a mental block for anything under 80.

70% or less = commercial failure

But I usually make my own opinion of games.

Judging by some people who have 100+ games for Wii U I guess anything that boots will do for some.

My 8th gen collection

You can definitely get underrated gems in the 60-70 range. Not so sure there are many gems in the under 60 scores. Though I still want to try Knack.

There are a lot of games above 60 that have enough redeeming qualities that you can't really say they're bad, more like not very good.

Honestly I rarely look at the score, I usually read the reviews and I also read user reviews (if they don't look like obvious trolling) but not in Metacritic. If had to say a score, I think anything below 60 could be considered bad.

I'd say below 70. But I like reading the individual reviews to see what the reviewers liked and disliked about the game. A number means nothing if you don't know the reasoning behind it—at least in terms of reviews.

For me it really depends on the game. If it's a title that I've been seriously hyped for, I hope that it gets 80+. For example, Thief. I thought that game was gonna be a solid 80-85, if not more. The reviews crushed that though, and I ended up canceling my preorder. On the other hand, there are tons of smaller games and indie games that, even though they are rated in the 70s, are fun in their own ways. Basically, I don't want to pay $60 for a sub-80 game, but if the price is cheaper, I will look into it.

Xbox One - PS4 - Wii U - PC

Indie games seem to get reviewed poorly. Many have 90 yet are short pathetic games. I played many that i thought wtf this is 40 at best. Indie titles are the most overated gaming turd of the industry.

55 or below, though I don't tend to trust Metacritic that much.

90 and above, untrustworthy.

^ Best answer yet. Everyone likes the game is a bit suspicious.

This said, if anything this thread shows why the game industry rating system is broken. 60 or below for me but that doesn't mean even then the game is bad, some people might have rated it 8/10 just more rated it 4/10. Since 5/10 is meant to be average...

Hmm, pie.
