The OP says it all.

We haven't had an over-the-top, arcade-style basketball game in a loooong while. Other basketball sims of late are pretty tepid-- same thing every year. I want a 3v3 basketball game with insane dunks, over-the-top characters, a crazy story mode, flaming basketballs, etc.

Why hasn't EA made a new NBA Street for such a long time?

I was thinking this too. NBA Street was, for me, the first great PS2 game (and I don't even like Sports games). NBA Street 2 was a phenomenon in my town. One of the last times I had a house full of people engaged by a game like that--Dance Central 2 being the last I can remember.

Give it to us, keep it over the top and fun. Keep all of the serious stuff out. Hell, make it an XBLA/PSN title. I'll buy it! Don't ruin it like SSX.

I would like to see a reboot but it's highly unlikely. EA owns the rights to NBA Jam and the last game was critically acclaimed and so I expect another Jam for the PS4 and Xbox One at some point. EA Big was a great studio and I enjoyed their many games, especially NBA Street.

As EA basically skewered the NBA Live franchise, I never understood why they wouldn't at least bring back NBA Street. It was fun.

That's pretty much the only sports game I want from EA anymore. I'd also like to see a new NFL Blitz (or another unlicensed one if they have to, though that wouldn't sell well).
