Most of day one DLC's are optional items, like a Skin for your Owl in Shadow Fall, so no I'm not against it, but I dont buy it.

I buy the DLC I want. I don't care if it's on the disc or preordered or deliberately taken out of the game.
I rarely buy DLC though. I actually prefer day 1 DLC to DLC that comes out a month after release because then I'm already done with the game.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Something as simple as a skin. So why not just include it in the game at release date ?
I hate all dlc...
I want to pay one price for the whole experience.

Its just a way of making more money and I agree with that, but do I need it to complete the game? Does it give me an advantage? no! it adds something to some people, so go for it, but not for me thanks :)

I believe some can be, yes. Others, maybe not. I'm sure it varies from game to game and developer to developer. A lot of developers probably start with the intention of creating new content in time for release. Some get made in time for day one, some don't. And you probably get other developers who have the content guys working on stuff before the game goes gold. And then you probably have developers who deliberately cut shit out of the game to make extra cash. I don't like painting everything with a wide stroke.
Cosmetic items and what not are okay. Once it crosses over into the gameplay aspect though, like additional story or MP maps and weapons, then we have a problem.
If something like that is ready to be DLC, it should have been in the game to begin with from the start. This is especially alarming in games that are bugged anyway due to the fact that it suggest divided programming resources and mixed priorities.
I hate Day 1 DLC when it's stuff like ME3 "From Ashes". It's a 15 minute mission to unlock someone that's on the disk, and is sold for $10. That's BS. It should have been free.
Cosmetic skins can be alright, as long as it's cosmetic ONLY, and not something that affects stats.
Won bet with t3mporary_126 - I correctly predicted that the Wii U's LTD at the end of 2014 would be closer to 9 million than 10 million. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6673287
Day 1 DLC never. I don't bother with pre-order extras either, not even worth entering the code for.
I have bought 5 DLC packs last gen
- Burnout paradise Big surf island
- GT5 track DLC
- Dragon age Origins Awakenings (physical)
- Wipeout HD Fury
- The last of us Left behind
Anything else I didn't see the value in, skipped Dark souls dlc as well.
Day 1 DLC is one of the reasons I skipped ME3 altogether.
It's complete bullshit. There is no reason why a publisher should take away part of a $60 game try to sell it for another $15.
Sigs are dumb. And so are you!
