I buy the DLC I want. I don't care if it's on the disc or preordered or deliberately taken out of the game.
I rarely buy DLC though. I actually prefer day 1 DLC to DLC that comes out a month after release because then I'm already done with the game.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
