In about 2 years I will get out of high school and go to college, and I've give some thought on what to study... yet I'm not sure. My sister decided one year before going, so I shouldn't worry much, but I just want to know how you guys and girls (if there's any) did it! If you're wondering, I'm deciding with physics, economy, or something related to computing (and if you understand some of that, blame the spanish language)

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

I chose Computer Science as its probably one of the greatest undergraduate degrees you could get. The pay and job prospects are great, particularly for those fresh out of college. Finding a job should be relatively easy. But you can also use the degree in conjunction with interesting ideas to become an entrepreneur. Not too mention its really fun! The speed and power of computers combined with creativity of humans allows for near limitless opportunities.

You seem like a math guy based on the degrees you're interested in. From what I've observed, most math guys tend to do well in Computer Science, so you should consider it. You could even find yourself in an industry that deals with physics, economics, or literally anything else you're interested in. There are so many different opportunities.

Did went to university to study physics but quickly realized that it's not for me. Not the physics but the way you learn at universities. So I went into an apprenticeship for informatician. Pretty much the best choice I ever made in my education. That way I learned so much more and had hands on experience with pretty much everything concerning my new job as network administrator. I also used the chance to get some certificates like a CCNP Routing and Switching and CCNP Security which for me is better than any degree I could earn at university.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

You've got to balance what you like with marketability. I'm not saying that you have to get a STEM degree, for instance, but in my case i took International Relations instead of History in undergrad because IR lets you do more stuff (not for profit and government work), and now i'm in grad school with a degree in International Development majoring in Not-for-profits and civil society (to focus on not-for-profit work), instead of a human security or policy research degree, because the not-for-profit degree is more career oriented, teaching real skills

So just go with whatever inspires you and make sure to keep an eye on how that can make you money realistically.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I'm studying for a degree in environmental science; I plan on working with animals because I love animals!

I'm doing Mech engineering cause I like planes. I'll do a master's in aerospace after this. Engineering is great cause it generally has the highest starting salaries of all careers and there is always demand for them.

I went with computer science. I did not like it at first, but it will help me to make videogames in the future, so I do not complain. Just think of what do you wish to be doing in the next 10 years and you will get the answer...

I am at university doing something I love studying (history) but still don't have an idea of what to do afterwards. Never have.
