I'm not trying to sound like an avid foaming-at-the-mouth fanboy, but I think Home has alot more to offer than people realize. That being said, it might not move consoles for that reason.

I wanted to clarify. I'm not saying Home will be a terrible product, in fact i'm looking foward to it. But I do believe that it faces inherent problems. Simply put the two games it takes inspiration from are not huge mainstream sucesses, they are kind of niche. Also I feel that home would be a compromise between Animal Crossing and Second Life. Home will not feature the game mechanics found in Animal Crossing and will not feature the community and economic development found in second life. It would be like a gimped version of both games. And this may turnoff many potential players.

It might. I don't think Home is being made to be Animal Crossing or Second-Life, I think Home is being made to be an add-on for the PS3, and runs concurrently with the PS3. If it was being sold seperately as a casual software title, I would agree totally. :)

I think Sony means Home to be more PS3's version of XBL, with 3-D chat.

We'll miss you George.

Wow, I know that the ps3 has been beating the 360 in WW sales, but I never noticed it beating the 360 in america. Do you think that most people who are buying a ps3 have a 360 also? or do you think they are looking at both and saying, which one do i want more?

 I have both. And I think consumers may see it the way I do. Both have strengths and weaknesses.

EX: PS3 is weak on the games (for now), while 360 is weak on the HD ability, especially on movie playback.

I think they weigh the differences and decide whats of more value OR they do like me an buy both.

@Avinash_Tyagi,

what was your POINT, again? =))

My point was that PS3 and 360 demand is weak if they can't even beat Wii this week, and that indicates that GTA4/MGS4/FF13 and such aren't going to be able to give them much momentum going forward in spite of the beliefs of many

 there has been no game released on PS3 of that magnitude yet. Yet, you're setting this week as a precedent for the release of those games..

THat makes TOTaL sense.

 No, i'm using this as a baseline for PS3 sales, then I take a 60% rise in Hardware sales, for the week those games release putting the systems in the upper 200's-low 300's, not quite to the level of what the Wii does most weeks, and considering those bumps are not sustainable, it won't be a permanent rise into that territory

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

 True. But that brings in another problem. Would consumers find Home to be as easy as Live or more cumbersome? In Live, chat is one blade click away, what would the process be like in home.

Do I have to log in, leave my home and find the avatar of the person I wanna chat with or do i log on and go to my 3d phone in my home and call my friend and then chat? Either way, would it be as easy as XBL?

Wii sold out, no big shipments this week
PS3 selling well, good supply
360 had some decent shipments this week, sold out almost straight away
DS saw a new colour and decent shipments

I'm guessing, and this is just a guess, but it seems like Nintendo thought last weeks shipment might last till this week, lol.

I don't need your console war.

You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Just for the records. =)

PS3 did around 1.2 mln. in first 6 weeks, or 200k on average.
40 weeks witrh 200k on average = 8 mln.
Last 12 weeks PS2 sales(PS3 at 299$) - 7.5 mln.
Overall 15,5 mln. =)

Enjoy.

 This assumes a good many unlikely things, like PS3 selling like PS2 at the end of the year, or PS3 maintining a WW sales rate of around 200K for 40 weeks

y'alls arguement is pointless.

Damn things have changed since 2009 began. Here are my new visions for the end of the generation.

Wii: 135 mil

Ps3: 85 mil

360: 60 mil

@senseinobaka:

Should it be as easy? I don't see simplicity being much of an advantage here. IF people wanted simple, why not just make everything black and white text, save people the trouble of having to look at colors. I think with functionality comes depth, which, IMO, I'd rather have depth than simplicity.
