Fuck Japan. That's what Nintendo is thinking everytime they're developing a game. Give something that the West like for a change.

Well, asking them to 'fuck Japan' is like asking Microsoft to 'fuck the US/Europe' in favor of  making a big budget game of a genre they don't often do that mainly appeals to another region. It's not always to the benefit of all gamers, but these companies have demographics they are familiar with and, in a way, biased towards at times. I think they SHOULD try to appeal more to different audiences, but they might simply not be aware of HOW.


Iwata said himself that he misunderstood the West, so how about we finally get what we're asking for?

I'm not saying we shouldn't get it or their  familiarity with the Japanese audience excuses the blinders they've put on in the past, but Iwata saying that he doesn't understand western audiences well enough doesn't equate to an immediate cascade of western oriented games, since he isn't going to ignore Japan or understand the west overnight. It's teaching an old dog a new trick. A very old stubborn dog.

Regardless, I do think a Mario and Co. themed 'FPS' would be a pretty cool idea. I imagine it would be pretty (sub)genre defining, like Mario Kart was for kart racers. I'd like it if they also went for a roster with more than just Mario characters, like Smash as opposed to Mario Kart. Though I guess a first person view would make it pretty irrelevant. Maybe third person would be better, in that case? I mean, why use such valuable IPs and cast of characters if you can't even see the one you control? I'd like a mode similiar to the battle mode in Mario Kart, balloons and all!

Iwata is a very old stubborn dog.

Though I guess a first person view would make it pretty irrelevant. Maybe third person would be better, in that case? I mean, why use such valuable IPs and cast of characters if you can't even see the one you control?

What exactly are we asking for? Many have asked for so many different things in the past its hard to keep track of. I do like the idea of Mario Paintball, but how about broading it out, maybe Nintendo Paintball?
