That would be awesome, especially multiplayer.
Yep.

There is already Yoshi's Safari on the SNES, something like that?
I love the idea. Online multiplayer battles with platforming elements could be awesome. You could grab powerups like leafs or fire flowers or mini or mega mushrooms. It might be better as a 3rd person shooter than a 1st... I'm not sure... but it could be a total blast. I'd love a shooter totally free of the restrictions of reality where you could jump on floating platforms, etc.

I really like the idea, but is paintball a thing at all in Japan? I think that might be the biggest deterrent, as FPS are not nearly as popular in Japan as the west, and paintball itself might not be something they're familiar with either. Iwata did admit that he's not good at gauging western audiences, and if it's not something the Japanese audience would be interested in, I'm not sure Nintendo would go for it.

Fuck Japan. That's what Nintendo is thinking everytime they're developing a game. Give something that the West like for a change.

Well, asking them to 'fuck Japan' is like asking Microsoft to 'fuck the US/Europe' in favor of making a big budget game of a genre they don't often do that mainly appeals to another region. It's not always to the benefit of all gamers, but these companies have demographics they are familiar with and, in a way, biased towards at times. I think they SHOULD try to appeal more to different audiences, but they might simply not be aware of HOW.

Iwata said himself that he misunderstood the West, so how about we finally get what we're asking for?

CoD is very close to getting at the point where it's close to 600 to 750k in Japan. Looks like the fact that PS360 had so many western games did make that audience larger there. If CoD can do it I bet a Nintendo themed one would break past the million barrier in the region.
That's...actually a pretty great idea. You've got a shooter without the violence, you've got another ongoing franchise that would bring in people that don't normally like that kind of stuff (how many fans of Marko Kart and Mario golf or Smash Bros. are fans of other games in those genres? I wouldn't be surprised if many if not most were not), and you get to have some awesome visuals with colorful paint splattering everywhere a la Super Mario Sunshine.
But as usual, the fact that we're talking about it now as a great idea means that they'll never do it.
