His point is that detail doesn't equal realistic. It's easier to make a realistic art style have more detail than a cartoony game since, well, It's realistic.

Stylized Realism...there are so many options with that I'm sure they can find something that would satisfy both camps.

And?
How is this relevant to what I said? What he says here doesn't change what I said. Even if people love the cartoon graphics when they're convincing, like with Wind Waker and Ni No Kuni, they are easier to pull off than realistic graphics from a hardware level.
And when I say realistic, I mean in the overall tone of the game. Twilight Princess is more realistic in its rendition of visual effects than Wind Waker is. The Wii U tech demo pushes this further, and this is where I want Nintendo to go for the next Zelda. The characters sure need to be stylised, It's a Zelda game after all. But the rest, I want it to be realistic. And how is going for realism should mean the devs don't have to be as creative? Ever heard of Final Fantasy? The environments in those games are very creative despite being realistic.

Realistic might streamline art style choices, but it would actually take longer to make, especially if there's a focus on detail. The amount of time the programmers and artists would spend plugging the details in easily overwhelms the time the executives spent making decisions.
I like realism and such, but considering it's true dollar and delay expense, it's probably not worth it. At least not for a series which can opt against it like Zelda.
I want realistic with a magical/fantastical feel. I want to wander through a forest and ancient ruins feeling anything could happen. Some inspiration for how it should look:

Mostly I just hope that it is ground-breaking and beautiful. And fun to play of course.

The demo from E3 2011.
Damn, I just realized how long it's been since that demo was shown.

I was talking about the creativity put into making the art style, not the environments.
Preferably nothing cartoony. Skyward Sword and Wind Waker HD both leaned toward the more cartoony side, so I think its only fair Nintendo should try something at the other end of the spectrum for the sake of variety.
