I can't believe how much realistic is dominating the poll.

I can't believe Nintendo will ignore its fanbase yet again and go for some art style nobody asked for, just because they wanted to take an easier route with something simpler than full on realistic...

Did you ever see the technical break downs on all the lvls of detail which were going on in the likes of Wind Waker on the Gamecube? You'ld be surprised just how "simple" that sort of redition of the world of Hyrule wasn't.

Yes, and it's nothing compared to Twilight Princess. Any other question?

His point is that detail doesn't equal realistic. It's easier to make a realistic art style have more detail than a cartoony game since, well, It's realistic.

And?

How is this relevant to what I said? What he says here doesn't change what I said. Even if people love the cartoon graphics when they're convincing, like with Wind Waker and Ni No Kuni, they are easier to pull off than realistic graphics from a hardware level.

And when I say realistic, I mean in the overall tone of the game. Twilight Princess is more realistic in its rendition of visual effects than Wind Waker is. The Wii U tech demo pushes this further, and this is where I want Nintendo to go for the next Zelda. The characters sure need to be stylised, It's a Zelda game after all. But the rest, I want it to be realistic. And how is going for realism should mean the devs don't have to be as creative? Ever heard of Final Fantasy? The environments in those games are very creative despite being realistic.

I was talking about the creativity put into making the art style, not the environments.
