In what Universe would WiiU get support if it would be as powerful as the PS4? I would say the Gamecube felt like it was almost a generation ahead of the PS2 and guess what happened. The PSVita is also more powerful than the 3DS. And does not get 3DS games.

Nintendo's problems have always been about hardware. First it was format; they used carts for the N64 and miniDVDs for the GC, and that cost them many major third-party titles (e.g., Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest in the fifth generation, GTA in the sixth). Then it was power; the Wii and Wii U just aren't powerful enough to run the same games their contemporaries do (the Wii did get some COD games, but they were extremely downgraded ports). The Wii got a lucky break thanks to its price and the brilliant marketing that really sold gamers on motion controls, but the N64, GC, and Wii U didn't have those advantages and all struggled because they lost key third-party titles. We will be seeing the last major cross-gen titles this year more than likely, and when third parties devote 100% of their efforts to the eighth generation, the Wii U will be left in the dust. Watch Dogs may be the last major third-party multiplat title it gets.

Name 10 games  that needed to be on 2 DVDs on GC.
Why was GTA3 not on GC? Because Rockstar never heard of MP3 or compression. The 450MB IOS/Android version of the game uses compressed audio and as far as I know noone commited suicide because he was forced to listen to MP3 music while playing the mobile versions hell I never heard of anyone commiting suicide while listening to MP3 in 2000 on cheap mp3 players with $1 headphones. Also Liberty City stories on PSP is only 400+ MB.

The GC format is just an excuse. Especially when everyone whines about piracy and the gamecube was the only system that had no piracy problem for years because of the mini-dvds. Every developer should be thankful for that decision yet they complain because its just an excuse. I mean seriously the mini-dvds even greatly reduced loading times etc. How stupid do I have to be to think  prerendered cutscenes with wav audio are more important than no piracy and fast loading times that also supports compressed cutscenes/audio? (its a no brainer decision really)

GTA3 was not on GC because Rockstar never wanted it to be. It took them years and alot of MS money to bring an enhanced port to the original Xbox. (enhanced ports NEVER hit Nintendo systems back then just straight ports!) NIntendo is not a company that begs for support. Because you give third parties to much power by doing so and they get used to special treatment.

And even IF the size was a problem. Think about this:
You are PublisherX. You have a new game its a huge success but  instead of just making a 2-disk version (which costs you 10 cents extra and you could theoretically sell the GC version for $1 more) you completely ignore the potential profit of a console? And prevent your IP from establishing on a new system on purpose but then years later you make 10-disk versions on 360 because it has no bluray drive and the DVD size limit is to small? OR you make a bluray version on PS3 even tho EVERYONE knew that in 2006 blurays were super expensive compared to 10 year old DVD technology? Makes ALOT of sense.

The expensive blurays or the lack of DVD storage did not prevent third parties from making games for those systems.
Again the format is just an excuse.

They would sell more consoles and have more 3rd party games, but they would be losing even more money than they are now.

then nintendo would have been lazy

N64 and Gamecube were more powerful than its sony's rivals, so what's the deal?XD

Reminds me a lot of my thread, haha. :P

I disagree, a little at least, with people here. I do believe that a "hotter" Nintendo console could have attracted more attention from third party. Especially if the believed that the hardware would be comparable with PS4 and X1. It would have given Nintendo a better start, I believe.

If the PS4 would have crushed it anyway, it's more difficult to say. But I do believe PS4 would have been the most successful one either way.

But perhaps it would have made it more difficult for the X1.

Also what the Nintendo console would have lacked the most is a better online experience, as we have in Xbox and PS products.

But like I said, it could have given Nintendo a better start with third party and leaving ports to be made for PS4 and X1 in the beginning at least.
