Today Amazon Japan has finally opened an official listing for the Xbox One. The console still hasn’t been released in the country, that was labeled as Tier 2 and destined to receive Microsoft’s new kid on the block some time this year.

The listing doesn’t yet include a price or a release date, but you can find it here.

Prior to the opening of the new listing, Amazon Japan carried only the import version of the console.

Just yesterday we learned that Microsoft is working on a strategy to change the image of the Xbox brand in Japan. Could this be a signal that the manufacturer from Redmond is about to reveal a release date for the console in the Archipelago of the rising sun, and maybe in the other Tier 2 countries?

Xbox One has been launched only in 13 countries so far, and the rest of the world is still waiting for updates. We’ll keep you posted on any further news shared by Microsoft.

With the news yesterday about Microsoft trying to change their image in Japan and the Amazon listing today, it seems Microsoft maybe launching sooner than expected in one of their 'second-tier' countries

Finally the long awaited day. I just hope they have enough supply.

Can't wait to see the "why bother"s...

I'm really not sure what's going to work to change the Xbox image over there. Looking at what they tried already, what really can they do different in Japan. Tales of games are out now, Baba commented on the platform they are going to. FF and KH are multiplat but that's not going to change anything. Spencer already stated that he hasn't even talked to Sakaguchi in quite awhile, so a new Mistwalker game might not be on the table. I don't think SE would do another timed exclusive SO either.

For me, the only moves that could MS successful in Japan are:

1: Exclusive DQ game (Big money hat, would rock the gaming world)
2: Exclusive MH game (Again big money hat, rock the world again)
3: Some sort of Xbox mascot, new ip game with family friendly characters etc.

Realistically, i'm expecting a new game from Tri-Ace with a MS partnership. (Infinite Undiscovery type stuff)
Maybe a few older ports and some new ips, but ultimately,nothing ground breaking.

So April is the expected launch month? That leaker looks more legit if true. I hope we get launches in other countries soon.

All 8 people in Japan will be excited.

I kid, I kid.

Should be interesting to see if it can top the 360 there.
