Maybe a $20 price cut this holiday?

Yes, alongside MK8.
And maybe other one for christmas.
99 GC - 99 Wii U is incoming sonner than we believe.
And I know they are already losing money, but they are losing even more without software sales.

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

I've said it before and I'll say it again...first priority for Nintendo should be getting the Wii U to make them a profit. Dropping the price even more wont help them with that. Additionally, Nintendo has also stated multiple times that price is not the problem...the problems are games and marketing

If they can't reduce the cost of hardware production to bring that selling price down, then they need to have a talk with their manufacturers and engineers about it.

No.

^What the above user said.

The problem isn't that people can't afford or think it's too expensive so much as they don't value or desire the system itself.

Do you go out buying random junk just because it's on sale? Most people don't, unless they have lots of money to kill. If people wanted the system but couldn't afford it, that'd be one thing, but it's people's perceptions of the system holding it back, not the price.

Nintendo realizes this and they're right not to decrease the price. If it goes much lower the Wii U might actually be "doomed". There might be a sale where it's slightly less but no permanent price-cuts in the foreseeable future IMO

(Note: it might not seem like it but I have a Wii U and love it, it's one of my favorite gaming consoles of all time. just trying to be objective or w/e here)

The idea that Wii U isn't already priced right, is kind of absurd.

This has been repeated many times over in various threads, but Wii U offers an awful lot of value for the money. It's $100-200 cheaper than the competition, the only next gen system with (real) backwards compatibility, the only next gen system with free online, the eShop has a massive queue of digital content coming (including GBA and DS games), and it's the only console which has a pack in game. Plus in spite of the hate it gets (mostly from people who've never even really used it), the Gamepad rocks as a controller, with all of it's features. And even if it isn't your "thing", you've got Wiimote and Classic Controller options.

I really just don't think, especially at this moment in time, that either of the other consoles offers the total amount of variety and value that Wii U does. So no, it doesn't need a price drop. I'm sure it'll get one in 2015, and that's fine, expected even. But 2014 really doesn't need one.

Hopefully not, Nintendo is losing enough money.

Whadya mean they're right not to decrease the price? They already did decrease the price! And no the Wii U is not a piece a junk as there is value in it, it's just that the percieved value is lower than it's price, hence a price cut is needed. A MK8 bundle at $250 is definitely Nintendo's best move in terms of trying to alter the Wii U's sales trajectory. I doubt even that will work, but Nintendo's probably gonna keep trying anyway. Gotta atleast give em props for sticking it out!
