Forums - Gaming - What does it mean for a console to be DOOMED?

Something like this:

Sega tried to launch the console as part of a comeback after its previous efforts with the Sega Saturn failed. With a strong marketing campaign and reformed studios to develop new creative content, the Dreamcast was initially well received with a very successful launch and strong sales. However when Sony announced the PlayStation 2, sales of the Dreamcast quickly plummeted, due in no small part to the console's inability to support movies on the new DVD format. Sega later came to the realization that it did not have the financial resources to compete. The company discontinued the Dreamcast in North America early in March 2001, withdrawing from the console hardware business altogether and restructuring itself as a third party developer.

Doomed means it's a console from Nintendo.

Here it means poor sales. And to some of us the original DooM is also the best game ever created.

It means losing the console wars and that, my friend, is a serious matter.

A system is doomed if it isn't selling as well as the best selling console at the time... Obviously

Lets not single out a system, or else this thread will devolve to.....yeah ....

The WiiU and Vita are both doomed.

The XBone still has a chance.

When a bad-selling console doesn't have doom threads on VGChartz. Like Ouya.

Your pic was the first thing I thought when I read this title, right after I thought WiiU.

OT: Doomed is when you no longer have a chance to be relevent in the market.

The WiiU is still relevent today.  If it doesn't turn around by this time next year, it will be DOOMED.

The XB1 is not even headed in that direction yet.  It just appears to be doomed if you stand it right next to the PS4.  Against most any other console launch, it looks very good.

The perspective on this website is overly informed with the obvious total sales numbers of this next gen, but most people lack the perspective of being adults during any of the previous console launches.

It is near the end of the end....

When a console is doomed, it has 10 seconds to live.
