Forums - Microsoft - Xbox and EA Deal - Worth it? Whats next?

A lot of these deals would have been inked when Xb one was going to be the master DRM machine, and EA thought MS would be either dominant or on par with PS4. I think EA aren't going to do much more with MS, or at least not as true exclusives, because EA can't give the middle finger to the biggest install base of the generation like they did with Wii, and also become a virtual 2nd party studio. I don't think the shareholders would let MS get away with paying EA the amount of money it would take to secure system selling exclusives over the lifetime of the console. It would basically ensure Xbox has a 3rd over all loss making generation and increase the chances of the MS board pulling the plug on Xbox all together.

Bunch of Pachters in this thread.

According to EA, no.  People seem to be ignoring this part of the quote though.

And everything is going according to plan for MS/EA?

Nowhere in any post I have made in this thread did I say that in a factual manner. They could be surprised by the sales, they might not be.

Like i said bad reasoning on your part.

That's ok, you're allowed to be wrong. They won't ban you or anything.

Also the only person spinning the implications of the quote is you. You called it "agenda based spin" i believe.

Yeah except for that part where I'm not assuming anything off of what EA said, only saying that sound logic exists that could allow you to arrive at more than one assumption. Hope that helps, toodles.

No, it doesn't.

I think some are missing the point that TitanFall wouldn't be what it is becoming if it wasn't an exclusive. I have no idea how much money Microsoft Added, but they helped the game develop on the consoles. It might have been a PC exclusive or other things. And it might have been a long time before it came out.

Garden Warfare actually looks pretty fun. I was watching it on Twitch last night and it's really smooth too.

Buying all those launch copies of Fifa might have been part of the deal. Both companies seem to be happy working together. As much as some people like to hate on Microsoft, they are unrivaled at working with just about everybody. (Cept maybe by the people that make zippers.)

Titanfall would indeed have been what it currently is. Look at the hype for the multiplat Destiny. Look at the hype generated for Watch_Dogs. Both new IPs, both hyped up to shit.

This is EAs second hit against Call of Duty. The left hook is Battlefield, the right hook is Titanfall. Theyre trying hard to get chunks of that market away from Activision, and there is no doubt at all that if this was multiplat it would have been just as big (if not bigger).

Interestingly enough Destiny doesn't seem to have the hype at all.  Perhapse that's why they delayed it, again, because they didn't want to compete with TitanFall.  It will probably be a fine game, but even No Man's Sky got more buzz.

Interesting point about ET getting a one two punch on Activsion.  I think you have something there.   Plus the Respawn guys are mostly ex Activision employees and the founders fired and sued Activision.  I think it's really personal to them. But they are a small team.

One does lose something when you go multiplat.  Exclusives, get more polish.  Respawn is maknig the Xbox One/PC game.  Which are very similar platforms.  A seperate company is making the 360 version.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

If the game wasn't exclusive I doubt they would be using the Azure servers and would instead be using the shitty shit shit servers EA uses for Battlefield. So thank you based Respawn for starting MS only so we can play your gem on the cloudy goodness. Idk about the rest of you in the beta but it was silky buttery smooth for me in terms of latency and I was even running it on wireless.

Japanese companies tend to support Japanese companies more unless you are Nintendo l0l

So its not surprise that EA (which is an American company) would support an American company like Microsoft.

I think with Titanfall, it was a good decision because atm other than Halo - MS can say they have something that gives them advantage over what Playstation has (or doesnt have).

I just hope Mass Effect 4 isnt "exclusive" to Xbox One >.>. (At least release it on PC as well like TF!)

I dont think the next Mass Effect will be #4

I have no proof to back this up and it's just my opinion but, I'm guessing that if the PS4 keeps pulling away and we see PS2ish dominance as far as marketshare goes....EA is going to move on. This is not like Bungie. This is EA we are talking about and EA only cares about the bottom line. They will chase the money and if current trends don't change, the money isn't going to be on Xbone.
