Forums - Microsoft - Xbox and EA Deal - Worth it? Whats next?

Soooooo with how things have currently gone with Xbox One and EA, has this partnership been worth it for both companies so far? Lets take a look at what we can currently "get" from the deal.

Battlefield 4 - Timed exclusive DLC
FIFA 14 - Exclusive DLC
FIFA 14 - Mass bundled
Peggle 2 - Timed exclusive
Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare - Timed exclusive
Titanfall - Kept away from PlayStation
Titanfall - Mass bundled

Thats quite a lot of stuff to say the Xbox One only launched in November. Its quite clear that the partnership is strong, for whatever reason. What do people think we will see in the future? Do you think it was worth it for EA and/or Microsoft (will be better to ask that after TF)?

I can see some Madden stuff probably happening. Dragon Age Inquisition content is probable, as is Mass Effect 4 content Id say. How about the new Need for Speed by Criterion this Year having Xbox One exclusive content?

I cant speak for every game but it was the best thing to happen for TitanFall. It's a new Ip that got paid for by MSFT and there isnt a company in the business that can do massive advertisement campaigns as good as MSFT. MSFT is even bundling TF with XBO. All this puts TF on the map along with it looking like an excellent game

Depends on Titanfall's sales.

But I don't think it will make the Xbone sells better than PS4... so I guess these exclusives or timed exclusives deals like Titanfall, Peggle and Plants vs Zombies will ended.

EA was sure Xbone will sell better than PS4 this gen and make the deals based in that fact... the PS4 sales got them of surprise... they love sales ($$$) at the end so they can't ignore PS4 anymore with any kind of exclusive deal except maybe DLC.

Worth it for EA cause they r getting a shit ton of money but idk about MS since the x1 is selling well but not that well... TitanFall should change it but if it doesn't then I dont think its worth it

EA is pretty much carrying Microsoft right now. Microsoft knew who to pay and almost screwed over gamers to do it. Sony has proven to EA that the deal wasnt worth it. MS must've paid them over a billion for everything though.

without knowing how much money was exchanged it's really hard to decide if it was worth it to one or the other side (or both). i guess the real test is to see how much titanfall and pvzGW sells and how many xbox's it pushes. if they flop both sides will probably regret these deals.

it certainly was a lot of special treatment though..

Microsoft could have done all that, while letting EA put Titanfall on PlayStation 6/12 Months down the line.

Im not so sure Titanfall missing out on the 85M+ PS userbase is a good thing for EA or the franchise. Short term, maybe. Long term, I just cant see it. Especially if EA are wanting this to compete toe to toe with the likes of Call of Duty and Destiny.

Are Peggle2 and Plants v Zombies GW confirmed as a timed exclusive yet?

Or are we assuming. I think its a valid assumption, I'm just asking.

I admit it was an assumption.

After looking it up, every mainstream site has Peggle 2 down as timed wheras PvZ is gonna be released on PC sometime in the Spring according to Origin.

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare will sprout first on Xbox One and Xbox 360, as Microsoft was keen to point out at its Gamescom showcase this week. A PC version will arrive shortly after, and now we've learned from PopCap producer Brian Lindley that other platforms are also in the works. "We'll reveal more details about other platforms in the future," he tells Joystiq.

Of course, we can only guess at what those platforms might be. Given the prolific nature of the original Plants vs. Zombies, and the expected outgrowth of its recently released sequel, we're going with a low-ball estimate of "all of them." Sony platforms, at the very least, seem like a shoe-in."

The deals was made before the consoles launches when EA guessed Xbone will outsell PS4... after saw the thuth comming out I guess they won't make these kind of deals anymore.

eh, not necessarily true.   if MS is willing to pay enough EA will take the money.  From a business perspective "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush".  businesses dont' like risk and if MS is willing to pay for the entire development cost (just as an example) that project is then no risk to EA and probably going to get green lit.   it just depends on how much money MS is willing to spend.  ...but the price goes up the more ps4 outsells xbox as MS has to cover the opportunity costs as well.
