Hopefully end of LoS series and can finally get the Castlevania been waiting years to play. Would love a 2D SotN style on PS4, even if had to settle for it being $20-30 PSN title at this point.

So you want more garbage like this?

Just because it's different doesn't mean it's bad, just like just because it's similar in style to past games doesn't make it good.

Given the choice? Yes, I preferred even Harmony of Despair with all its flaws over Lords of Shadows with nothing redeeming to what I want from the series.

I have tried over and over for a 3D polygonal based Castlevania. I bought the N64 game, the PS2 games and now this. I have enjoyed none of them.

Compared to 2D which overall I have enjoyed roughly 90% of the time starting on the NES.

Even the first game flopped despite being a very good game with high Metacritic.

I can't imagine how poorly this will sell. I hated the Dracul and modern setting from the very end of Castlevania 1. Mercury Steam is guaranteed to go out of business.

I wouldn't say it flopped. Konami was certainly satisfied with the final result and consumer's perception. The second one got even more marketing; yet everything failed from the moment the reviews started kicking in.

These reboots Capcom and Konami outsource aren´t really working, while at the same time they no longer might have what it takes to recreate the quality so many people enjoyed in previous generations.

I don't think they understand how hard it actually is to create a reboot and so they greatly underestimate the resources and skills needed. Successfully rebooting a franchise requires a team that's talented (obviously), knows the source material and has the guts and finesse to shake up the formula without damaging it.

If the end product requires too much nostalgia to really enjoy you'll turn off new fans but if it's too different the old fans won't buy it. If the result lacks feels outdated and lacks the old magic you'll end up with a major flop.

What's sad is instead of recognizing that outsourcing to costly western studios is the problem, Konami is instead just going to opt to stop creating any more Castlevania games altogether.

Anyone else notice that theres a HUGE difference between the metascore and the userscore? I usually trust the userscore anyways.

Sigh at you. Its the end of the LoS series cause the story ends here.

This 2D castlevania you want will never happen on the PS4. If you wanted that, you should have bought Mirror of fate HD.

Too much complaining. Its never been a very sucessful series to begin with and you're beeing picky. Lords of shadow was the highest selling game in the series. They will never go back to the old style of games. Just get over it. The only hope you got are mobile devices and 3DS (though after the way Mirror bombed, even that is unlikely).

I tried Mirror of Fate on 3DS and was left underwhelmed as it was essentially LoS with the combat and level design.  It was also butt ugly compared to games like Circle of the Moon. I would also be happy to see Castlevania I want on 3DS or PSV if PS4 is too much wishful thinking.

I should also state that I do buy all these entries, and may even buy LoS2 once it drops in price because, believe me or not, I love Castlevania and have since the NES days.  I do not think being critical of an entry makes one a bad fan.  If it did I think all us Sonic fans would be considered poorly after Sonic 06.
