Forums - Gaming - Over 90% of gamers do NOT own a ‘next-gen’ console

Well... Because it's only 3 months since PS4/One and a little more tha 1 year for Wii U?

stopped reading when the author posted last gen totals compared to this gens start. We all know this gen wont match last gen so the potential customers are less than 260m whis means more than 5% of sales has been grabbed so far so early

The demand is winding down just a bit for the PS4. A local retailer in my area (Meijer) has had the same 4 PS4s sitting in the exact same spot for more than a week now.

Has he chained them to the floor or casted them in concrete? ;)

They are locked behind glass. There's someone at the counter always there to help you.

The night of the PS4 launch I saw 15-20 people gathered there to buy it.

With no gaemz yet, the interest is bound shrivel just a little bit. At least until Infamous arrives.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Well, of course. There's several factors, especially when we're in a deep financial crisis.

I, for example, can't simply afford anything. Paying for University is hard as it is, and I'm struggling to even purchase used games. I was shocked to discover three Ps4 on the retail store where I live; people can't just afford them. I still want a Ps3 for some exclusive games I have left to play, but I can't give 250 euros (250 euros? Really Sony?), let alone 300, 400 or 500 depending on which eight generation console I want.

But the consoles will have great legs, it just will be a slow upwards line, unlike the previous gen.

Yeah, I don't think there are 260 million unique console owners. Especially with Wii, many of them had a PS360 as well after a while.

There is some merit to the idea that anything can happen. I look at products which changed sales momentum mid-gen, like Sonic the Hedgehog and Donkey Kong Country or Kinect. It's quite possible that one of the companies have a great game-changer on the way... though we haven't seen it yet.
