Forums - Gaming - IGN-Thief: Next Gen vs. Current Gen Graphics Comparison

It's amazing how they all look almost exactly the same at a glance. Diminishing returns...

Looking closer though, the next gen versions actually do have vastly more detailed textures.

All the next gen/PC look alike. You cant tell the Xbox One version is running a lower res from a youtube video really.

The next-gen versions are a bit better in the texture department, but it's not exactly worth a new €400/€500 machine. Though I know the game's cross gen and multi-plat so it's not going to be representative of the full capabilities of both consoles. Also, I feel like the previous-gen ports are below standard anyway (on purpose?), I'm pretty sure I've seen plenty PS360 games that are way better than this.

Lastly, I find the XBox One version to be the best one, ignoring the PC version. The color and contrast is just better. While the PS4 has more power, I find that the XOne keeps bringing forth better looking games...

PS4 colors looked washed out.

They were closer to the PC on maxed out settings.

Actually, it isn't about diminishing returns. The game simply looks like crap, I've played the PC version. AC IV looks much better. And the performance is horrendous. If the frame rate doesn't hit 60fps the game keeps stuttering. The fact that it has frame rate issues isn't related to graphics. It's simply a bad programmed game.

the game looks pretty much like last gen, the ps3/ps4 comparisons look almost the same

Xbox versions are a lot darker, which is to my liking.

I mean look at Skyrim mods, they make stuff so much darker cause the lighting is working properly, you can't see in some hidden corner with no light.

The PC and PS3/4 versions all were like playing Skyrim vanilla versions. yOu could see everything. It was all this bland tannish color everywhere. Boring.

The XBO version is crushing blacks. Most likely due to IGN fucking up their gamma settings. ¬_¬

Nope, this is the XB1 upscaler hard at work.

everyone talking about graphics and color... do you guys even own a tv/monitor that can handle good colors and black blacks? I use a pro plasma monitor 42pf50u and the blacks are freaking black on it and for me xb1's black crush forces me to reduce the gamma of my tv. My ps4 and ps3 work wonders with the tv :D
