Just so you know, Sony just released Playstation 4 in Japan which may have helped them achieve this.

playstation 3 is the top selling platform next to ps4 and 3ds.. with games though, THE PS3 IS STILL OVER 200 DOLLARS, AND IS STILL THE MOST EXPENSIVE LAST GEN MACHINE, goes to show you that.. 3D, BLU RAY, AND A HUGE GAME LIBARY HELPS CONSOLES CONSISTENTLY SELL

PS3 is currently outselling x360 nearly 2:1 and wii nearly 5:1

selling your competition combined over 2:1 is huge.. and the wii u/wii/3ds/x360 are all available and selling thousands even tens of thousands in japan every week.. yet all of them combined.. cannot even sell half as much as the ps4 alone
