Tumblr holds a rather vile group of people.

Race doesn't exist biologically (or as most anthropologists say).  However, in our society's minds (and in many of our minds) it does.  However, there aren't set parameters that actually divide the "races" people talk about.  Someone who's "black" doesn't have a black gene, just like a person who's white doesn't have a "white" gene (or pretty much any other "race" you could think of).  

How you interpret this depends on you, but defining race for humans is always going to have holes in it.

I grew up in the Humboldt Park area in Chicago and white people got picked on more than any other race, no lie. 

This is ridiculous. White people are an ethnicity like everyone else, and they should be a part of the process. I understand that white people won all the big wars over the last 300 years and the other races have been getting the shaft ever since. They started wars too I'm sure. White people were just better and more thorough at winning them.

I don't think white people owe either group any kind of apology whatsoever. If they won the war, I'm sure they would have been just as brutal.

You just discovered that Africa has slavery still, good find and welcome to the world. You think people don't condemn that? You think people turn a blind eye to it because they're not white masters?

Slavery in US didn't end until 60's PRACTICALLY. Other parts until 1980's (African colonies).

Do you get picked on for being white? Yeah you will, like every other race.

Is there groups of people affilliated under a goal of eradicating white people?

You are missing the point. Even if those statistics were true, which I'm not sure if they are, that be missing the core point of BET. The point of BET is not merely to boost the amount of Black actors on television; rather, it is primarily meant to provide entertainment particularly for the Black audience (whether or not it succeeds at that is another question). Now, let's think about whether or not the same thing would make sense for the White audience...no it would not. Almost all television channels try to produce entertaintment for the majority (Whites); so it would be pretty redundant to make a channel particularly for Whites. 

Further, if a company wanted to make a channel called "White Television", then no one would catch a fit. Yes, people would be shocked because there are already plenty of channels that would accomplish the same goal, but it definitely would not be forcibly shut down lol. But of course, this is all hypothetical conjecture which would be impossible to prove or disprove. So I would rather not get too deep into this hypothetical scenario.

You just made my point, why would there need to be "White TV' when on TV the majority of people are white and when you google image something the majority of people are white? You can google image any damn word you would like and majority of people in the google image are going to be white unless you google a particular nationality. Majority of African Americans you see on TV are either athletes or rappers and that is why there is a Black entertainment television.

In the 85 years the academy awards (A white awards show) have been active only 4 black actors have ever won an award for leading role. 

The grammys (A white awards show) doesn't even broadcast the hip hop portion (A black dominated genre) but they broadcast the other genres of music on live TV.

But whites have it soooooooooo hard and are discriminated against? LMAOOOO Give me a break, if you think what whites go through is discrimination you wouldn't last a month being black before you would pray to your god to be white again lol

Umm I half think you misread my post.  

Firstly, that link didn't just show that africans still have slavers, it also says that they have had it even back in the 1800s.  Of course people condemn that, I'm just countering the argument that White People have some big apology to make.  That and the argument that they were wronged in some horrible way.  It happened to everyone.  

No I never got picked on for being white, I live in Canada.  We're the ones who never got into slavery and actually snuck the slaves out of the US.  Were you being picked on for being white?  I am having trouble understanding where that line even came from because I never mentioned anything like that.  I'm more of an outside commentator wondering why the situation is so ridiculous down there...

All I'm saying is, wars are started by everyone.  Slavery was practiced by everyone.  Brutality happened on all sides.  Thus, there's no reason white people should be left out of the conversation mentioned by the thread starter.  

Can everyone please stop trying to support the assertion "X race is the most discriminated against" by using anecdotes? It just adds useless fluff to the thread. I could list some counter-anecdotes, but it would be useless, because we would not be able to ascertain the truth or frequency of the scenarios. This really shouldn't have to be said, but some people seem to think their experiences or friends experiences must be representative of the entire planet.
