Forums - Sales - Wii U games showing good legs

Failing to agree that Ubisoft are being dense for delaying Watchdogs Wii U: immensely ridiculous.

Bringing up the enormous chasm between sales of multiplatform games on Wii U and other platforms to illustrate why decisions like the above are being made: irrelevant, we're obviously not comparing platforms here.

Why are you even on a sales site, zero999?

As for ZombiU; the only official statement I've heard on that is that Ubisoft has said it wasn't profitable. Here you go:
http://www.destructoid.com/zombiu-257720.phtml

"Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has revealed ZombiU made no money, the Wii U launch title failing to become "even close" to profitable."

Straight from the horse's mouth. This is by far Ubi's most successful game on Wii U, and people are still making noise about their decision to delay and possibly cancel the Wii U version of Watchdogs. I mean; come on. Watchdogs likely has an even bigger budget than ZombiU, per platform at that, there is zero(lol) business sense in making it at all at this point.

NO, we are not comparing platforms since we are talknig about the wii u versions selling well enough.

and what about zombiU? you realize that's an exclusive title, right? or do you think multiplatform ports need 500k+ to break even?

and you think porting watch dogs is costing more than the whole development of zombiU?

Regardless, releasing all versions together is good for everyone. delaying only the wii u version will hurt it's sales without benefiting the others.

I'm starting to think Zero does these threads on purpose just to spice some people....at least I hope.

Not really. Games don't usually triple their first 2 months of sales, ACIV will top out at 200k. Did we ever get 101 shipments???

Ubi are making the right decision with Watchdogs. It's their next 8m+ selling franchise (that's what they're hoping for) they shouldn't be worrying about a sku that is gonna sell 50k - 200k.

Do you mean by releasing it later? That doesn't even make sense. Or is there a double standard for the X1 and PS4 with relation to this? They are probably going to sell similar numbers that you just posted.

I'll agree that many don't triple their first 2 months, although, some have and do.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

and lol at ZombieU at 800k. No. That thing didn't pass 400k.

It already has.

I said it before, ill say it again, outside the major titles nintendo decides to release numbers for, we have no official numbers for any Wii U title (from 3rd parties especially and specific Nintendo published Wii U games)

Ubisoft--no ship numbers
EA--no ship numbers
Activision--no ship numbers
Warner Brothers--no ship numbers
505 games--no ship numbers
Bandi Namco--no ship numbers
Sega--usually combined with the 3DS counterparts
Capcom--same as above

We, of course, have numbers from VGC, have unofficial sales of games from creamsugar from neogaf (for US) and end year sales for most European and Japanese trackers (most show little to no Wii U games)...so with no base to start from its hard to say if these legs are good or not, to me additional shipments are most likely at a standstill for Wii u titles.

The only thing that remains constant is that Wii U sales of multiplatform games tend to be ~1% of sales very few exceptions (games geared towards the Wii crowd)

if the games keep reaching 300-400k, unless the other versions get 30-40 million sales, that's far from 1%.

and percentages don't matter, it's about profit. it also helps that the franchises's are showing growth against predecessors.

It is beyond me why you think ubisoft is right by disrespecting their nintendo consumers. They aren't even gonna lose any special date if they release all versions a little later. and it will sell far more than that. 50k, seriously?

And AC4 is tracking ahead of AC3, wich surprise surprise, is already at 230k and on it's way to reaching 300k (triple of it's first two months).

They delayed the WiiU version because it's low priority compared to the other consoles. If ACIV had sold better then they wouldn't have done it. 140k copies sold is nothing compared to the 7m sold on the other platforms.

I don't remember it selling 7 million on the PS4 or X1. Hmmm, I must have missed something. Not sure why every person that bought an X1 would purchase 2 copies of AC4. :P

I noticed now that the PS3 version of Rayman has overtaken the WiiU version, after a worse start.

I wouldn't call that "legs", in any of those cases. Especially AC, since it released very late in 2013. We're looking at maybe 2k sold per week in 2014 on average? Which will likely drop as the year goes on, but might rise again slightly with the holidays. That would be about 100k for each in 2014. Again, I wouldn't call that legs.

rayman on wii u is legging slightly better than ps3. AC4 is at a medium of 4k (not 2) per week and should raise depending on hardware sales and holidays boost.

those games are each showing signs of selling hundreds of thousands well after their release, some will double or triple their ltd sales if they keep the pace. that IS called legs.

I said it sold 7m on the 4 other platforms. PS4/XBO/PS3/360
