so it seems that reviewers are off the 7 to 10 scale...

Only half of them, the other half still like to give 8s and 9s.

The demo was good and I loved the first one. Still buying it, besides I expected low reviews.

Duds are coming thick and fast. Exclusives are becoming more and more important for this year..

I knew this and Thief would be bad.

I get the feeling Watch Dogs will end up disappointing too.

I think it won't be disappointing as much as it will not meet everyone expectations. I think it will be as fun as Far Cry 3 was. It won't be 90+ game, but it will be 80+ game.

We´ll see. This game has been hyped and delayed for so long that the end result being a disappointing experience might be inevitable.More than claiming 'AAA' is destroying the industry, I think it has more to do with many of these devs/publishers not knowing how to better plan and manage their budgets. For example, I think we can agree that Naughty Dogs games fall under what´s considered 'AAA', and yet they managed to develop and release two Uncharted games and The Last of Us in the same time frame it took Irrational Games to release one game, Bioshock Infinite.

Watch Dogs seems like it´s been in development for a looong time and having over 1.000 people involved (!) in its development (I´m not sure about that), the chance it ends up as a 'bloated' product isn´t low and might contribute to the final product failing expectations.

No, because the reviews that give it a 5-6.5 are pretty much saying it's a bad game.

Well AAA is really the management of a high budget.

Also I do think AAA development is hurting and benefiting the industry, in the sense of these companies will establish huge losses, but new strategies will be formed, you will get more and more indy budgets, new ways of raising money, and new start up companies that will be independent of major publishers producing amazing quality games.

While I think Naughty Dog is excellent, and they are top notch quality. Too many companies are like Irrational, and not Naughty Dog.

Square and lesser extent Konami, are going to learn the hard way. No one learned from THQ and Team Bondi, let alone Irrational mistakes.

(I want to write more, but I am at work, so if my thoughts aren't presented well, I blame that!)

I wonder if now that next gen is here, certain games on past gen consoles are getting harsher reviews since the developers aren't paying them enough ad revenue.

I get your thoughts. That´s a nice discussion.I´m just hoping there´ll be more devs filling the mid tier space.

Or maybe it's a lesson that the sales of your video games come from the high reviews of the journalists and if you don't pay your game is going to bomb.  How many games that you've seen ads all over the major review sites had a high score from just about all those sites while when you pretty much see no ads the games got destroyed in reviews?
