OT: Numbers are very decent, not spectacular but also not as bad as I was led to believe by some people. Especially on NeoGaf they were kinda hellbend on dooming that launch.

A Feb release in a mobile phone centric country with only Yakuza Ishin being it's best Japanese title (and available on the PS3). I guess the 300k launch sales was to be expected.

Next week sales will be worth the wait now.

How so? Isn't NeoGaf a sucker for everything Sony? Don't tell me i was lied to :(

Better than I expected, well done PS4. Now for the long, slow road to relevancy in the JP market. The first year is gonna be tough.

Solid start.Only the PS2 and Wii were higher, home console wise, so not bad at all.

I don't know, maybe I was just imagining it but everytime I went to their japanese launch thread you had all these people posting pictures of stores in Japan still having PS4s and people saying how nobody seems to care for the PS4 over there, I think some people even worried that it wouldn't break 100k.

Only a Final Fantasy XV bundle can sell more units than launch week.

with all that supply shortages I'm not so sure if ps4 can do more than 7mio till the end of march

Yep, Vgchartz slightly overestimated the launch, but Gaf totally underestimated. Overall we end up being the superior predictors!
