Homebrew doesn't mean that piracy will be availabe soon.
Hardware sales would skyrocket, but third party developers would have another excuse for not releasing their games on Wii U.

Do new Wii Us require the day one update still?
Even so, might this help & warrant a Wii U purchase? To an extent, perhaps, though some things are meant to be doomed to start with.

I think so but not 100% sure but if I were to guess, it would be a yes but at least the servers are much better now so it shouldn't take very long as long as you have a good internet connection
PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850
I'm taking hacker's claims that exploits are unpatchable with a huge mountain of sodium chloride since they said the same about the PS3 ages ago.
I won't be messing about with mine anyway regardless because I don't want to get my NNID/console banned from Miiverse, which is awesome.
I know people who won't buy a console until they can play pirated games on it, sacrificing online functions is just silly in my eyes.
