This early into a console generation, it is naive and ignorant for anyone to "call" anything at this point. It is pointless. The answer is yes, of course this early in there is ALWAYS a chance that any of the three home console could "win the generation". You never know what tomorrow is going to bring. Wii U could turn everything around with just a few great game releases and some strong advertising, and before you know it, it could be "back on top" in sales (as in maintaining that spot which it technically currently still has).

Will that happen? Who the hell knows. But of COURSE it's possible, as of right now. Saying otherwise is just being a fanboy.

oh please, i bet you would be singing a different tune had this been WIi U on top. Its ignorant to call anything? Please its ignorant to ignore recent trends. Now for curiousity's sake what is the chances of WIi U ending up on top? Because you didnt even give a reason or scenario as to how that would happen at least some people here did that. Hell deep down inside you know it probably WONT happen and it seems to upset you.

Yes, there is a chance. I would say 1% or so. Maybe there is a kind of self-destruction in every Wii console after 8 years and all the casual gamers buy a new Wii U....with Wii Sports Club.

Mario Kart and Smash will help but the Wii U won't outsell PS4. Not in this dimension. But I still believe there are wonders in our world^^

I don't hate Microsoft, I don't hate PC,
I don't prefer Sony, I don't prefer Nintendo.
...Ok, I love Nintendo but this is something about tolerance, ok?

I'm a gamer with one of the greatest hobbies and I want to share this greatness with everyone.

There is always the possibility. At the same time, it is not unreasonable to use what information is available and make an assumption in this case.

i wouldnt even bother with him.

That's probably the best approach, but it doesn't cost much either way.

Nothing's impossible. Right now PS4 is doing as well as it is because it's a good price for the hardware you get, and has plenty of 3rd party support, but if it can't keep up with 1st party software, eventually it'll run out of steam, just like the Wii did. The Wii U, which honestly is starting to do okay with 1st party, could take off decently if it can gain traction with 3rd party support. It can get 2nd place easily with enough quality 1st party, but to get 1st, it will depend if they can gain at least a little bit of 3rd party, and keep the 1st party going longer and better than Sony, which I can see happening. Sony isn't exactly rolling in dough to invest, while Nintendo is. I mean I wouldn't bet on it, but it's not an absurd notion.

Sony has already invested in 1st party studios, sure they aren't as acclaimed as Nintendo. But since 3rd parties dominated the market last gen, PS3's 1st parties set it apart.

From the Xbox 360 yes. And that's all they needed to do. Hence why PS3 has gradually caught up and overtaken 360. However, Microsoft has also invested in 1st party this gen, much more so than Sony. Sony needs to step up their game with 1st party. For the first time in history, Microsoft actually has a 1st party advantage over Sony. And they look like they're going to keep it well into 2015 at the least. Sony has a few things, but nothing that outdoes Microsoft. If Microsoft can gain traction once it gets more 1st parties, it'll steal market share more from Sony than from Nintendo. Which would leave the race much, much closer if Nintendo can gain some traction as well. But hey, wouldn't a close race be much more fun to watch than a Wii or PS2 style domination race? I for one hope it turns out that way, just for the fun of watching it. Otherwise I don't care that much. I get all the games I want either way, I just come here because for some reason I find watching charts to be really interesting.

Total BS. Sony had Japan and Europe that's why they caught up, 2 territories MS don't have to fall back on... MS does not have a first party advantage period. Their studios don't come close to the quality releases Sony's do. MS again is relying on third party deals, doesn't work.

I'll be perfectly honest with you sir, I don't like Microsoft. I do like Sony. I will get a PS4 eventually. I doubt I'll ever own an Xbone unless someone gives me one. I'm not trying to defend Microsoft here. I just don't share your optimism. Sony CAN do better quality 1st party, but thus far for 8th gen, Microsoft is winning there. At risk of angering Microsoft fanboys, I'll admit I don't like that one bit. But that's how I feel, and how a lot of people feel. Sony is winning because of a kickass price for better hardware, not because of software. And while that'll give them the strongest start, it won't win them the war.

?? No they are not, please. Grossly overrating launch games, sony has not even announced what their biggest studios are working on, we already know more about ps4 exclusives in 2014 then we do MS, and MS has a huige drought after titanfall, sony has drive club, the show, deep down coming before the fall. The the order, and possibly uncharted. Games don't stop at launch, and sony's studios have a history od top notch games way more then MS does.

Your point? PS3 started off poorly because it was expensive and had no games. They improved both of those, and eventually it sold.
